Im excited to see what they come up with mostly becasue all the existing restomod XJS I've see just dont work. There is one floating around with the thin pre DOT bumpers whch was the desgners origonal intent and that one looks good.

Mangus Walker is the only car person of any sgnifigance that likes the XJS so I'm glad he's bucking the trend and headed in this drection. Respectible. I'm also a Porsche owner so I follow MW and he gets vintage Porsches and presents them in an organic, pure salt of the earth kind of way that has been lost on newer models.

Just for fun... My Restomod XJS would have rear fender flares, the origonal thin chrome bumpers, the early all black no-wood interior. A warmed up, fuel injected SBC with short runners that rev's to 7000 RPM, backed wth a manuat transmission and all the supporting mods like bigger brakes,IRS brace and poly bushngs in select places.

Sweet!
I would be happy with a street legal version of the circa 1985 TWR XJS that won the European Tourist Trophy

maybe the headlight tape would be considered vulgar?

I never tire of warching that video. I also show it to be people who think that the XJS is just a soft wallowy touring GT.

"Here comes the Boss"! Classic!

I Second that. Phenomenal stuff!
Watched Major Tom in the XJS, Rover V8's and flying brick Volvos back in the day in UK. The primary reason I own an XJS today. Motosport does inspire ownership.......... albeit after a 38yr delay in my case

On the subject of that car, does anyone know how modified the engine was? I know Tom Walkinshaw was attracted to the relatively unstressed V12. I've seen a 450hp figure, which is a significant improvement on the 300hp of the stock HE engine. I'm not an expert engine builder, so for all I know that could just be a new set of heads...

Its all in here:

TWR and Jaguar's XJS: Inside Tom Walkinshaws Group A Racing Team https://a.co/d/ai5g1yH

Fantastic read! Allan Scott wrote it and was head of the engine development program. He also wrote a superb book on their Le Mans program which used the V12. I forget the exact engine details, but recall they used the Pre-HE engine as the head was more tunable. Not something the Jaguar marketing depth crowed about
