UK breakers/ idler pulley assembly
All UK friends,
Several weeks ago I posted a request for assistance on a supplier source for the Idler pulley assembly that is used on UK version cars. I am wanting to take the US version anti-smog plumbing off of my car.
I was given the name of an Andy Harvey with XJSPARTSLTD and he did respond to one e-mail about 3 weeks ago but nothing since then.
I have a friend who is traveling to the UK for a 10 day visit shortly and will bring the parts back to me saving a lot of money on shipping costs.
The person she is visiting is coordinating for the parts delivery. he will assist with the parts but has not been able to contact Andy Harvey.
I am now looking for an alternate he can contact for assistance with the parts acquisition. Thank you

Simply Performance is a good address for parts like that.
Be prepared to buy a new bearing though! Mine was 28 years old and really nasty (my original one!). A new one costs something like €100 (so like $110 or so).

Thanks, I can probably get a new bearing from a local machine shop here in the US for about $10. Somethings are better here, others not so much.
I think getting rid of the air pump plumbing will clean up the aesthetics on the top of the engine. Of course this project is only after I get the instrument panel and center console and new wiper motor back re-installed. Also have to address to electrical issues with some of the parking and turn signal indicator lights on the front. Hopefully I can work all of these issues worked out in fairly short order and have the car completely road worthy in the next several weeks.

Erm, no. The bearing for the pulley is again a special Jaguar bearing. It is like a water pump bearing, just with a locating ring on top and a groove all around it. The shaft also needs to have an end piece pressed on in order to take the pulley itself. Been there already mate 
You can probably get a custom one made but then it would be easier to get an entirly custom made bracket and adapter...

Yeah, I remember seeing that as well. But then he also made a totally custom housing and shaft.

It looks like the bracket above the coolant crossover pipe may be the same as is used on the anti-smog air pump setup. If so I don't need that.
It's amazing to see how much room is opened up with the air pump out of there. It looks like you actually have easy access to the alternator.

I have found no problems when dealing with them. If I had, I would not recommend them.

Canadian V12 cars prior to 1988 didn't have an air pump so if you could find one at a Canadian junkyard that might also be a source. Probably would be a sedan, rather than XJS, but it was the same pully as far as I know.

My friend returned from her trip to England with my idler pulley assembly in tow and the Rushton Engineering head plugs. Once it warms up a bit I'll be pulling all the US edition anti-smog plumbing off the car. I think it will clean up the engine bay a bit. Nothing dramatic but a nice subtle change.
I decided to go with the Rushton Engineering plugs even though they were a bit pricey because I didn't want to fabricate something on my own. I know others here have done so but it was just something I didn't want to mess with personally.
