I'm not sure which Jaguar manuals you are using? Are you using the genuine Jaguar ones or some aftermarket versions? The ones I have seem to always have the relevant torque settings. Does the attached page help at all?
I'm using Repair Operation Manual AEM3455 Ed 3, Service Manual has no number, got them from Jaguar Heritage, I also have hardbound 4 volumes, I have the page you show in the service manual which wasn't the first place I looked - in my own defense I was in a rush to get things bolted up so didn't spend a long time reading.
That said even your page does not show the pickup torque - although it does have the sandwich plate and sump stuff.
I need not have rushed although I'll be able to get the sandwich plate back on my sump is toast - after cleaning up there is a patch where something has eaten away at the metal - you have never seen such nasty goop that came out of the sump, off the baffle shroud and the sandwich plate - almost like bearing grease, it's taken me three hours to clean up !!
I wish I hadn't run the car now I've seen that but the oil showed no such signs. To anyuone that dares remove their sump - be afraid, be very afraid ... and to anyone that hasn't considered it you may want to drop the sump and taker a peek at what hides inside.
100% synthetic and drive it hard = sump as clean as a whistle. What you are seeing is just the result of years of neglect, poor oil, no oil changes and the engine never being extended into its working range.
This is what it should look like (the pickup is untouched, the actual sump has just had a light cleaning to get it oil free for the gasket process: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ak-fix-234286/

Lack of use, lousy servicing schedules, these "Garage Queens" are usually in a sad state.
More so the V12, due to never ever seeing even 1/2 way to Redline for fear of breaking the thing, DUH.
All of mine, from the 1st MK VII, all knew exactly where the Redline was and what it was for.
I have never been overly fussy with the torque of minor items, MY CHOICE BY THE WAY, just good old Aussie "common sense", and years of doing the same thing.
Lack of manuals in the older days probably played a huge part in that.
I here ya Grant - I think the point I tried to make is that I drove this car in blissful ignorance of what lurked within - not as a result of anything I had any impact over - it was the sort of mess that there is no way I'd have driven the car with - I know for sure now why my nice clean oil was black on the first trip.
I suppose what I am proposing is an addition to the Grant list for any car that hasn't run for a significant period and has uncertain history - drop that sump and inspect it - it isn't such a hard job - the sandwich plate is another story.
I already have 10w/40 Fuchs Race Pro R waiting to go in, I may switch to the 20/50 version but I'll see how it goes. I'm deliberating my filter choice now - went Jaguar - but looking at others such as Mahle - I will be changing the first filter after this layover after 1k miles.
Hoping to get the subframe back under the car today .....
How do you recommend red line testing a V12 in a country that has cameras on every street corner for any unsuspecting speed demon exceeding a speedlimit by as much as 2 mph. I know the auto box will change up whether I want it to or not without mods - and I ain't taking it out again !! (I'll probably regret those words)/

Hold it on the stick in 1st, it will redline at about 60 mph and change up automatically, regardless of the stick position. Hold it in the stick in 2nd it will hit 125 and never change up on its own!
Good stuff to know, I don't know if I've ever had a car with a GM400 in it - I probably have without knowing -
I have a similar challenge with the V8 - redline in that is disqualified in any gear - difference is that has a 'track mode' and that will redline through every gear. Last time I tested that was on a track, I don't know what speed the red line comes up in top gear on that - ran out of ***** (and track) at 160 ....
