What is a facelift model

New to Jag owner here. Excuse my ignorance but what is a facelift model.

The XJS received a makeover around 1991 '92 model year VIN 179737. They made it with fewer panels, a new look dash ( modern round gauges etc.), and many other changes. Then around '93 MY they added the full colour plastic bumpers and the 5.3 lt became 6.0 lt. Many other changes were also added.......
