what would it cost
Your dream car is out there!
GM actually designed and built a car with the specific goal of taking on the XJS (and the Mercedes SL) -- the Cadillac Allante.
A 1990 example could be a trouble-free example of GM's finest engineering and quality, or maybe it could be something that gives you a new found appreciation of your departed XJS.
Who knows?

Mine was 10,000 km in 10 days in my 1992 Series III V12 sedan. I did part of the Jaguar Owners Tour of North America in 2004, drove from Alberta to San Luis Obisipo (XK's Unlimited), then back up the west coast to Victoria, BC, then home across the Rockies.
Car ran perfectly, it loved the cruise being set at about 130 km/h on I5. That was where I found that trying to do 1600km (1000 miles) in a day was just too much for me.

Can't say I've done 10k in 10 days, no need to I guess but regular 1000km weekend trips all summer over a 4100ft summit mountain pass. These cars have no issues provided your on top of regular maintainence.
which reminds me..its coming up time to do cap n' rotor.

Nope.
Way back in the MK VII days, I had the habit of picking a place somewhere for Sunday lunch. We lived MILES from anywhere.
Then the "how to get there by which road/track" came into the equation.
Usually 650-1000kms round trip, and no sealed roads back then.
Still do the same today, and usually a 600km round trip on a Sunday.Very few unsealed rods these days, the fun has gone, sadly. Nothing like thundering down a dirt road in a BIG Jag, priceless.
None of the Jags ever had us miss a meal, or failed to return us home.
The big one of 25000kms in the XJS took us 14 months or so.
