Default XJ6 trans capacity

I just got a used trans out of a 1990 XJ6 for my 1993 XJS and it has a deep pan with a different dip stick and tube. Both of them are ZF4ph24, I was thinking they would be the same and I think they are but for the pan. Does any one know what the fluid capacity is? Also does any one know how to adjust the rotary switch thats on the left side of the trans without using the service tool JD161. Thank for any help.

I am assuming you are using the dipstick and tube that actually belongs to the donor transmission. If so, about 4 litres should be very close.

The deeper pan will still require the fluid to be filled until the same level is achieved, so the pump can actually pick it up. No reason for a deeper pan, and the same fluid quantity, nothing gained.

Soooo, if the old pan was 4 ltrs, and the new pan was deeper, you will need 4 ltrs PLUS the amount of the new depth, and there I am missing a link, maths is NOT my favourite pastime, but maybe 2 ltrs or so.

Thanks Grant. I was going to use my old pan but it wasn't deep enough. It looks like the throttle body is thicker.
