01 XKR - rear speakers only rumble...?

01 XKR - rear speakers only rumble...?
I'm really enjoying my XKR vert - but when I adjust the fade all the way to the rear speakers, - all I get is a little bit of base - no voices.
Just wondering if there is something wrong with the Alpine radio - or If I need new rear speakers or amplifiers?

I seem to recall mine had at least midrange in the back. It's possible there may have been different audio options.
