Thats intresting, although i have not had any sort of problems prior to this but thats not to say it just hadn't happened yet
Thanks for finding that appreciated
Hi Bill, so plugged in and it recognised my VIN automatically
It then asked to switch ignition on, as there wasn't another choice i said yes, it then asked is the ignition on, to which i clicked no. it then asked if it wanted the program to control the ignition, i thought hey ho give it a go. Anyhow no ignition came on car seemed dead but it did scan the vehicle.
had a look around the menus but have left it there and disconnected the battery again
Prior to this when i connected the battery the wipers started up and i had a light on the cluster. i though oh well lets see if i opress the start stop button if i get a light on it but no, nothing
Program to control the ignition? You choose wisely!
The photo does not show the battery icon, the voltage indicator in the upper right corner.
I'll bet it's not green. If red, you may disregard the display/results.
If yellow, results are usually correct but not 100% reliable.
Connect a power supply sufficient to make the battery icon green.
If your battery is low or marginal, leaving the "battery maintainer" connected for a while may bring the voltage up to par.
Low voltage can be the source of the problems with both SDD and the car.
Yep was green with a voltage of 13.78
i will rerun tomorrow at some point as evening here in NZand would take me a while to set everything up again sorry
really appreciate your help and everyone else who has chipped in along this journey.
learned some good stuff even if it isnt related to the 'problem' pointed me at some good threads and as you know you dissapera off down rabbit holes reading stuff, but fascinating non the less
just to double check i was correct in selecting the 'allow it to take control of the ignition' even though it didnt do anything
i suppose its inert at the moment so it couldnt get much worse
I have been given a code generator sdd engineering mode or something it’s called
so watched the first video which i actually viewed the other night
as i have an access code generator should i still follow that video, he saying v130 i have v164
Watching the second video it requires that the ignition be switched to position 2 which is what i dont have as nothing happens when pushing the button
Here is a photo of the state of the modules today, may be a wee bit hard to see but the battery icon is green
also slightly different outcome on the modules than yesterday
Check for intermittent connections at the instrument control panel and infotainment/display modules.
Loosen those units and move them just a bit while under power.
Search for 688-JAG: Advanced Electrical Systems and Diagnostics and review with special attention to section 3.
Hi Bill
was looking at the SDD system DTC's by ECU and saw that there were crosses through the ignition authoristaion and the key transponder
I have both my keys although one had verdigris in it when i bought the car I did try it in the SCU in the console when bringing the car home and it would allow the car to start but would not lock or unlock the car with the buttons. The other key until now worked with the SCU as well as all the unlock lock and passive start, i.e. did not need to put in SCU
If the key transponder and ignition authorisation are out then I am wondering if they need to be reprogrammed.
I have had a look around on this site and seen the reprogramming advice but it all seems to be about programming a new key to add to the system.
The following is informative 9. KEY FOB / REMOTE
Programming (information starts at post #6) https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ion%85-171095/ (thanks to U1026768 and Cambo)
However I havent come across antything about reprogramming/resetting original keys back to a car so was wondering, given that the car is not responding whether this would be worth doing.
My main concern would be that through the reset it would ask for the ignition to be turned to position 2.
Reading the post 9 Key Fob Remote. My thoughts would be to these steps, obviously using the current IC
1. Before the old IC is removed from the vehicle, the technician must first use the special “Erase All Current Keys” function on IDS. This will manage the following steps.
a. Reset all currently “paired” Smart Keys present during this procedure back to a “default” status by replacing the CURRENT “secret code” with the “default code”. (NOTE: Only the keys currently on this IC's “key-ring” that share the CURRENT “secret code” can be reset back to a “default code”)
b. Remove all currently “paired” keys from IC’s “key-ring”.
2. At this point, all existing keys have been reset back to “default” status and are ready to be “paired” with the replacement IC.
The problem with re-programming keys is that you have many modules failing to communicate with SDD.
On initial "read", SDD downloaded empty data for those modules. The file data must be downloaded correctly because it will be uploaded as part of the key programming process. I fear that you may have compounded your problems.
There are two aspects to module data: the Central/car configuration file and the module programs.
Either or both may impact communications.
You have to establish communications with the various modules to see if they have program data, without key/position 2.
Possibilities: a fault in the CAN bus (though test shows 60 ohms/continuity), the files in one of the modules is corrupt, or one or more modules have electrical or hardware failures.
Try re-running the connection for individual modules.
Further, to program various modules, you will need vehicle data files.
Can you get ahold of SDD V150 or below?
SDD has the ability to "see" pinpoint data. That may help ....
I think that you can see power to the various modules in pinpoint.
Q: Was the screen shot taken before or after resetting/deleting the key fobs?
The report would be expected for missing key fob(s).
SDD should allow you to download sessions to a thumb drive. It would be a good idea to download the earliest and subsequent sessions in case you swwitch to an earlier version of SDD.

Reason: add question
All of those codes are pointing to the instrument cluster IMO, either ground or power low speed can bus from RJB, CJB and even the last one is focused n the lines connections. It's the one thing all of those IPC faults have in common. Have you tested those connections? Do you need the information on those wires or do you have the wiring diagram?
Hi Bill
No i havent reset the fobs, as not sure if it would require position 2 to be on. That was my question really should i reset the fobs?
I'm not Bill, but no don't reset the fobs yet and you may not have to. You have something wrong in the instrument panel based on what I'm seeing. Those codes need to be resolved first imo.
