2008 Jaguar XKR - Proper Oil For Supercharged Motor
If you speak with Mobil 1 or Castrol regarding which of their product they recommend for your 2008 Jaguar XKR, they will tell you they don't have an oil for you. Their internal systems say the car requires the Ford designation WSSM2C913B, (an old number that a Ford dealer could not find in his system). My handbook only states: Castrol API SM and Ilsac GF-4, 5W-30 is preferred. I also have a 2007 Jaguar XK, with same 4.2L engine, and both companies have a variety of oils available. I have discovered that Valvoline has a Synpower European 5W-30 full synthetic, but have not found it in my area. Apparently some Jaguar dealers use Castrol Edge 5W-30. Motorcraft (Conoco Phillips) has a 5W-30 semi-synthetic oil that has an updated WSS number designation which does not match the old number.
Can anyone shed light on this?
Thanks.

Oil is oil, as long as it's good. Please don't start another thread on this, there are dozens already and all they do is cause discourse!
