Default 2008 XK Dashboard lights

So,

I have experienceed a few electrical "gremlins" since I took delivery of my 2008 Indigo Blue XK Convertible. The latest is a gauges gremlin...

The small retangular panel located between my tach and my speedo (displays gas guage, clock, trip computer, etc) did not light up early this morning when I left the house for work. The panel remained completely black during the entire 35 minute drive to work (Pretty scary not knowing how much gas you have left)

Anyway, I got to work locked up the car and went inside. Came out for lunch and the panel lit up just fine when I started the car and it was fine the whole time I was driving the car today. Of couse the dealer says they can't troubleshoot the problem if they can't see the panel is malfunctioning...and now it's lit up just fine....

Anyone have any thoughts???

I had a Chrysler (why I don't know!) that had a similar problem. The message center would not light up in cold weather, but worked fine in warm weather. They found a broken wire that was causing the problem. I don't think this is a common issue with these cars, but an intermittent problem is hard to find. When ever it does it, notice the temp, climate, etc. to help the tech trouble shoot it.
