2010 Jaguar XK AC/HTR FAN does not turn on! Help...
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum, so be gentle. I just acquired a 2010 Jaguar XK Convertible and I'm in process of restoring it. It's a really nice car and runs great... But it does need some help.
-- My first issue is the AC/Heater FAN does not come on.
1) I have what I think is the schematic for the climate control system. I've checked the two fuses (F6 & F12) all good. I've also checked the relay (R3) and it's good. I actually swapped it with the same type and part number of the relay next to it. No change so far.
-- There is a another "Junction Box-Auxiliary" listed on the schematic, it contains another fuse (F34) and another Relay (R1). This relay and fuse connect directly to the FAN. Have not been able to locate this Box. Any Ideas where this is?
2) I guess the FAN could have gone bad, but I don't know where it is located at this point.
Does anyone know where I can look for the schematic to this car, to make sure i have the correct one?

1. Aux JB or RSJB is located behind the rear seat center cushion. Pull out at top to disengage push pin fastener, then lift to remove cushion.
2. Fan is at passenger feet. remove fiber baffle if present. Check voltage at fan terminals.
If no voltage, locate fan speed resistor in housing between fan and coil housing, center of vehicle. Check continuity.
3. XK manuals abound. Gus Glikas' JagRepair.com is dependable. Say TY and leave a donation to cover his website costs.
Chances are that the Thermal fuse has blown which is inside the control module that is next to the fan.
its is possible to take the top off the module and then test the internal thermal fuse.
It happens if the fan is a little stiff due to water ingress due the duckbill problem.
Not sure a 2010 model has the issue.
This control module is the same as Range Rover and on EBay is a fraction of the price from Jag
its easy to get the fan and module out with a little time on your knees above the passenger footwell.
Its called the Blower Control Module and is mentioned in this forum with plenty of posts as well as Duckbill
Hi Bill and all, Thanks for the info. I found the fuses, they're all good. I removed the fan assembly, and everyone was right, the bottom of the fan motor was rusted. It was simi frozen. Cleaned it up added a small bit of bearing grease on both bearings it tested fine on the bench with 12V.
The only problem is, I connected in the car but let it hang down while I turned on the fan and it starts to turn then stops! So the fuses and relays are good.
Dang, I didn't take an after photo, but it looks brand new now.
Well onto finding out why it won't stay on. Any sugjestions?
I ran it on the bench for 10 to 20 secs, without the plastic fan installed. Then assembled it and ran it again twice for about 1 to 2 mins each time. Worked great and strong.
It starts running in the car as soon as I hit the AC button but shuts off immediately.
Does anyone know where the Motor-control-front Module-blower [Control Module - Jaguar (C2Z6538)] is located? Someone said its down by the blower, can't find it.

The Blower control module is next to the blower It’s about 3” x 2” and held in by 2 screws.
I had an issue similar to you and the fan wasn’t as corroded as bad as yours.
Eventually I had to replace the blower.
I believe Rock Autos do them .I checked EBay but XK ones are rare as hens teeth. I then found out that the F Type blower is the same as lots on EBay.

I had to get a a power adapter loom which is very cheap and allows 2 different plugs and sockets to be connected.
I think if you purchased a new blower you get this adapter in the box as new fans have a different power connector
whilst on EBay get a new controller module for a Range Rover they are the same and a fraction of the price for one for an XK from a Jag dealer
The rust on the Fan indicates that the car had the Duckbill issue where water drains through the fan onto the passenger floor.
Hopefully this has already been fixed on your car.
So keep an eye on a damp passenger floor and a pool underneath the car as the AC drains
Your motor may be different. But damage due to water will be similar. So, source a replacement or rebuild. But lubricating a noisy sealed bearing motor is not going to be productive.
I just put a blower motor resistor in my 07. Cheapo from Amazon, but can find better quality elsewhere if needed. Worked perfectly. Read that if you turn the blower speed knob and you can see it ramping up on the dash, but not response from fan, it's the resistor. True in my case.
I agree with those above, looks like water backup from a plugged duck bill. Fan locked up may have killed resistor. New or good used motor and resistor should do the job.
Before or after fixing your fan issue, be sure to address the duckbill issue that caused this (or make sure it was addressed by a previous owner), or you’ll be doing this fan dance again someday. The duckbill design wasn’t changed until partway through the 2010 model year, so depending on your VIN, you probably have the old ‘sticky’ design.
Given the condition of the fan motor, trying to fix it is a waste of time. Get a new one. They are not expensive ~$40-100 at PartsGeek.
Thx Bill, the motor works great after I refurbished it, but I’ll probably get a new one anyway. I found that the blower motor temperature fuse is blown, I ordered a new unit/ assembly and I also ordered a new fuse to fix the original one. I’m an Electrical Engineer, Space Programs. I’ll fix it and use it as a spare. Thanks for your help.

Good point, I was thinking of pulling the carpet and taking a peek. Oh and I’ll investigate that Duckbill issue, I read all about it in the other posts from a while back.
I purchased a new Heater/AC fan & motor along with the Motor-control-front Module-blower [Control Module - Jaguar (C2Z6538)]
Everything works great, I was worried that the A/C was not cold, but it's very nice. Heater works great too..
Thx everyone for your help, I haven't looked at the "Duck-Bill" possible issue yet, working on getting the DTC to clear, one won't clear. I started a new thread on it.
My guess would be that the motor got wet and is burned out. It's easy to get to under the passenger side of the dash. I replaced mine 10 years ago in my 2007 XKR. The Jaguar assembly is very expensive but I found a compatible sized aftermarket motor. All that needed to be done was to trim the length of the shaft and carefully separate the squirrel cage from the original motor and install it on the shaft. A plus is that the aftermarket motor is sealed at the bottom whereas the original Bosch motor was not. I wrote this fix up years ago in the forum and hopefully it is still available in more detail. After 10 years its still going strong!!! Also make sure the "duckbill" snip has been done to prevent further water incursion into the plenum.
