Default rear window won't move convertible

Hello all,
I've replaced my battery on my 2011 XK. the roof operates perfectly and I think I did the window reset correctly (by holding the button) too since they both operate properly but now the left side little rear window came down but won't close again, even when I close the roof. I can hear a cracking sound like the mechanism working but window just come up an inch or so. Can anyone tell me how to fix this ? a programmation issue or more of a mechanic motor issue ? thanks. I'm a bit desperate since I don't know a proper Jaguar garage in Montreal ... hopefully you guys can tell me how fix this, thanks again.

Sounds mechanical. The window regulator (inside the panel next to the rear seat, below the window opening), either needs a rebuild or perhaps the cable just came off a pulley. Search ‘window regulator’ over this forum, it’s been discussed before, and there are places that will do it (rebuild) for reasonable rates. IIRC, there’s one in Florida that sells the service on eBay. You send them your regulator, they rebuild it and send it back.

Thanks you are right, and I found plenty of super good explanation even with photo reports on how to do the job. I'm not DIY so I finally found a garage that is willing to take the motor out (after about 12 calls) and I found Julie from windowmotorworld, in Florida, super nice lady that does the job+ resend back for about 300US$. I'll keep you guys posted as if it solves the problem. Quite sure it will. question for you, as I have a garage get the left side out should I preventively do the other side as well?

Your money, your choice. It’s not a problem that comes up often on this forum, and don’t recall anyone preemptively doing that. Having a shop take something apart without necessity is also increasing the risk of damage to your interior.

Just take the motor out? THEN what? You'll have a motor in your hands, window still won't work, and parts are everywhere. I don't see a conclusion here...

Isn't the conclusion obvious? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Think his thought was to also remove the working regulator and have it rebuilt as well, so if some part was worn, it would be replaced and now he’d have two rebuilt regulators and maybe not have a potential near term failure of the old working regulator.
I’d agree with the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” strategy.

YES!!!

This happened to me a couple years ago. When the first one went bad, left side IIRC, I fixed it and put it back together. Wasn’t long before it broke again and the other side went as well. So I understand the “ain’t broke don’t fix it” mind set but if one side failed, the other side is probably not far behind. And it is less work to do them both, since you have to remove the whole rear seat upholstery, and you have to ship the mechanisms to WindowMotorWorld and wait for them to come back. Better to have the car unusable once instead of twice.

See my post here for a how-to:
