Default Rear 1/4 window problem

Good morning gentlemen. 2009 Jaguar XK Convertible. Rear driver’s side window does not roll up when top is put up. I can rear the window motor doing “something” but window doesn’t roll up. Any suggestions on trouble shooting this? Anyone replaced window regulator or had similar problems? Thank you.

Hi Badicedog, I had the same problem as you describe further investigation revealed that the cables that are driven by the window regulator motor have become detached from the pulleys.
The cables are not available from Jaguar or aftermarket but the whole regulator assembly is available but it is expensive, a far cheaper solution is to use a kit which includes the drive pulley, cables and cable seating mechanism that is meant for the XK8 convertible.

I was at the dealer today as I'm having the same issue with my right rear quarter window not coming up. They indicated it was the regulator.

There is also a company, in Florida I think, that will rebuild your regulator. Search this forum for ‘window regulator’, I’m sure a thread mentioning their name will pop up.

Edit: See post #4 in this thread:

Outstanding! Thank you for linking us to this very informative thread. I will be contacting this rebuild company tomorrow.

Unforunately this is a common problem. The wire has come off the guide rollers or the rollers themselves are damaged. It is an absolute pig to get out and back in needing a lot of disassembly of trim and components. My replacement and labour cost me nearly £1500 in England, half in labour and half in the part plus tax. I seem to remember there is a company in the US that rebuilds them for a good price. If I can find their details I will update you.
