KJ07, thanks for you're advice, dealer wants to give me 12k for the car cash. I am going to fix it up and just sell it myself, it holds the dubious distinction of having the most miles he has seen and is on the internet at 100k!

Of course he'd give you 12k for it, I would too, that's a steal.

At 100k, you're not even close. Check out this car with 290k:

Cars for Sale: Used 2007 Jaguar XK in Convertible, Wilmington CA: 90744 Details - Convertible - Autotrader

and they're asking over $14k for it!

It was mentioned in this thread:

Just an update. Ended up taking the car to a shop about an hour from my house, that specialized in Jaguars. I ended up getting all new spark plugs, 2 coils replaced, filters cleaned, and oil change. Cost after warranty paid their part for the ignition coils, was $1050. And shes back running like a champ.

I have never taken any of my 3 jags to a dealer, always to my independent mechanic. If not under warranty, why would anyone take it back to the dealer?

I, too, got the hated "restricted performance" light, with similar symptoms. Fortunately I do have an extended warranty. 2 injectors and a coil replaced. Problem solved. The coil is worrisome; I blame the other on some bad gas. Car had 22K on it when this happened.

Usually because there is no one near with any Jaguar knowledge. We don't have any around us and there are only 5 Jaguars in our county. My dealer is 75 miles away in any direction. There are non dealer mechanics in the same area as the dealer. So it's just a matter of picking your poison.

I forget, sometimes, that here in southern California, where we have more imports than domestics and with that how many independent and capable shops we have at our disposal. I completely understand your point.
