Default 2011 XKR won’t start - Help

A couple of days ago, it failed to start on the first button push (just a single click could be heard). That went away, but today it just won’t start. Each button press causes the single click, but no start. Is this a starter issue?

Default Update on not starting

After about the 15th try, she started. I would still appreciate any insight you guys might have as to what’s causing this. Not starting makes enjoying her rather difficult.

Everyone here will scream "Battery!", but the fact it finally turned over (Did it do it with "authority"?) says you may have something different.

My 07 once did this, and Jaguar replaced my key fobs as well as update the computer. Can't see the computer firmware being an issue for 2011, but it is food for thought...

Loose connection somewhere? Check the cables at the battery terminals.

Sounds like a Starter or Starter cables/connections?

Do your headlights, radio, etc...turn on and seem to work fine? If so, then it's not a battery issue.

Try pressing the START button before you step on the brake pedal.

I agree with all the recommendations, and although I think it's more a cable connection than anything else, as a duly sworn member of the X150 forum, I'm obligated to say "Battery!"

Default Thanks for the tips!

The battery tests fine and all accessories fire up with zest. I will try the button before brake routine tomorrow. After the long delay today, it started fine for the rest of the day on the first push of the button. I will have the starter checked if the problem persists.

A “Hard Reset” might be helpful... Disconnect both Neg and Pos terminals from battery and touch them together for 10 seconds then reinstall back onto battery...

I thought I had tried this but being more conscious and intentional about pushing the button first, I’ve not had another failure to start first push. Thanks!!

I'm glad it worked for you! You just saved a boatload of $$$. My invoice is in the mail.
