Default 2012 Jaguar XKR. 7 days, 4300 miles.

Took my 2012 Jaguar XKR From Columbus, Ohio to Las Vegas Nevada for a conference and to.... see about a girl... not what you might think not a hooker or anything just a girl I had been talking to. At any rate... I took the car instead of flying out as this was a great opportunity to really PUNCH IT!

I took 70W all the way from Columbus, OH till it reached 15S in Utah. And then back the same way 4 days later

Day 1 in route to Vegas from Columbus by way of Indianapolis to St. Louis to Kansas City to Denver,Colorado - after I made it through the rocky mountains I stopped for the night and resumed my journey the next day (Day 2) through Utah where I reached speeds up to 130mph in the middle of nowhere (wanted to go Vmax but just didnt want to end up in jail!). I am pleased to report that during the "almost" 30 straight hours driving my now 20,000 mile on the clock XKR handled flawlessly.

The return trip was more of the same. Just flawless gas guzzling fun!!!

Results:
Miles: 4300 miles
mpg: 22
avg Speed: 65 mph

Did the girl look and...as good as the Jag? Sounds like a nice trip. You know what they say, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas and what happens in Miami never happened. Any pictures of the girl?

She did.... But can you believe it....she just wanted to be platonic after wanting me to visit her in vegas?.... Where's the fun in that?!? AND THEN... She started talking S!%# about me driving my car to Vegas to impress her and that she was not..... I drove it for myself and left in the morning unannounced. Never felt so hurt and foolish in my entire life. No, she didnt get a drive in her - for she surely would have been impressed then lol.

Given the circumstances with the girl; too bad you didn't get to sample some or all of the great national parks in Utah. there are five of them; Arches, Canyon Lands, Reef, Bryce Canyon and Zion. they are all amazing and probably more worth the trip than some "platonic girl" in Vegas.

Any how you had a great drive and it sounds like you enjoyed it.

The excitement of being with the most beautiful girl in the world last 5 minutes. Driving the most beautiful car in the world is priceless.

She wasnt even that pretty...hot body yes but pretty....not so much... I think I was more embarrassed that I was getting ridiculed for loving the best car in the world (even apart from its beauty the ride and power of our XK's is amazing) by a woman who I have done better than! What a miserable trip apart from getting there and coming back. It would have been much better however if I had won at the craps table LOL

Thanks everyone for your support. We really do need to be careful who we consider our "friends". "Jessie James is alive and well!" is a saying my dad used to always say..... Though I was not stolen from I do feel duped.....

Jealous people do not understand we buy the cars because we love the cars - not because they make us feel any better about ourselves or our situations. I don't go to bed saying "well life would be intolerable if I didn't have a 500 hp car." NO! I feel badly for those who take offense to our hobby. It is just that - an expensive hobby that we enjoy.

I love your B&W photos. Very classy, man! To hell with the chick. Sounds like good riddance to me.

I seen a BRG convertible XKR-S parked at the Calabasas Commons while in LA 2 weeks ago. It's the perfect color for a British Jaguar.

Impressive trip, too bad for the girl. Like someone else mentioned, better shop closer to home :-).

3 weeks ago when I purchased my '15 Stingray from a Michigan dealer I actually decided to fly out from CA and drive the car home, about 2300 miles. But, I ended up whimping out, worrying about the cold Eastern conditions and the summer-only tires. So, cancelled the flight and had the car shipped. Probably better this way, even though I have never driven across the US, something I'd like to do one day.

Glad you enjoyed the driving, after all that is what GT cars, like the XKR, are truly made for. Maybe, following your example (minus the girl), I will also work up the appetite for a drive across the Good Ole USofA... BTW - I recently drove down to Vegas in my XJL to see a relative. No gambling!

That's the sort of journey the XK was made for. It's just a shame you guys don't have some autobahns to play on...

Visited all of them back in 2002, and agree 100% - shame I only had a rental Sebring 'vert to drive, though.
