also i love how they said it was great in regular driving...the steering wheel is what it is...its a JAG...I have recently heard that the tires may have been over-inflated causing the track to feel more slippery. Regardless this sums it up - its not the cars fault - they brought a GT to a sport car competition. NOW. I DO view the XKR-S as a sportscar...how can it not be with those LINES, that GROWL, that speed....the way is can slivers around the racetrack doing powerslides....COME ON....ITS BOTH!!!!!!!!!!! IT REALLY IS...Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde!!!!

If you look at the top right of the MBUSA website there is a AMG tab as they have their own website: Mercedes-AMG Official Global Website
Here's the C63 AMG Black Series: Mercedes-AMG Official Global Website
XKR was built as a GT as Jaguar never intended to be a sports car. Eventhough it came in 2nd to last in the 1/4 mile drag race, they should have done a 1 mile run as that's a true test of how strong a car's motor. I bet the XKR-S might have passed the Carrera S (with only 400HP) in a mile race and be close to the C63 Black Series.
This was posted before but here's the 1/4 mile race:

Yeah, I don't consider the XK a sports car, no matter how high performance it is. If you want a true sports car, look at Boxster or Miata, or the new F-Type (we'll see how it drives soon!). Lightness, nimbleness, purity--all characteristics of a sports car but not necessarily a GT car.
That being said, it makes me mad that Jaguar is marketing the F-Type as the first Jaguar sports car since the E-Type,--I thought the E-Type was also a GT???

Yes, the E-Type was a 2 door sports car that was available as a 2 seat convert, 2 seat coupe, and a slightly longer version as a 2+2 coupe, and a 2 seat vert in the last years of production. The current XK/XKR/XKR-S coupe share the same 2+2 configuration as some XKE's, and the new F-Type will simply share with others.
I don't think contemporary definitions preclude a 2+2 from being considered a sports car anymore than a 2 seater automatically qualifies. At one time all traditional sports cars had manual transmissions and very little in the way of creature comfort to dull the experience. Today Ferrari doesn't even make a manual, and everything is power operated in almost all cars. Paddle shifters was a clue for a while but now even the new Toyota Avalon has them. The number of seats doesn't help either, especially when they obviously weren't really intended to be sat in by anyone larger than a laptop.
Since the lines have become blurred I prefer to think it's the owners driving style that determines the car's nature, and if that's the case mine is definitely a hard core sports car sometimes and a luxurious and powerful GT other times...that is if your particular definition of a GT allows for a folding roof!
