Unhappy AC drain on 5.0

Well for $300 my local dealer says my AC drain is plugged. For another $1200 they can pull the dash and clear it. Does mine have the duckbill over the trans that I seem to remember a past thread remarking about. Any thoughts on clearing the damned thing? Apparently compressed air didn't work.

Did you try the "Close the vents and run fan on HIGH for five minutes" trick yet?

I believe that a 2011 XKR should have the new version drain. Not the full duckbill drain, but you never know without confirming I guess....

What's the new version pray tell?
It's kind of a moot point at the moment though. After recharging the system myself, I took it to the dealer and explained that I had already recharged to the correct pressure and had no cooling. They, of course, evacuated the system and refilled it and pronounced it good except for the drain and charged me therefore. I just went to pick it up and, "tada", no cooling. The "technician" came out and held the revs over 2000 and said it works now. I explained that corresponded to 75mph and seldom got that fast in the city. They're keeping it for another day now. I'm thinking computer output to the variable volume compressor is suspect.

Just as soon as said dealer gets it to make cold air I'll give it a shot before buying a borescope and hunting down the duckbill.

Whats the science?
If there is one- wonder if vents could be blocked and compressed air blown in.

???
Add air volume to an enclosed space; increase in air pressure by a small amount, possibly enough to blow obstructions from a vent tube...
Was that a serious question?
I've never had this problem, but have read many threads and comments stating that it works in many cases.

i have heard it works too, and i do it preventativly
But i somewhat question it. Is the drain tube on the other side of the blower and why.

After a full day, the dealer now suspects the fan module as the reason for no AC. They said it was blowing 40 degrees in the shop but ambient outside because the shop is cool and the fans weren't needed. I'm losing faith in Bobby Rahal, Inc. At $123/hr, this is getting pricey.

Do you know if they’ve tested refrigerant pressure on both the high and low side? This sounds like it could be a malfunctioning DPS valve, which is a common issue with these cars. There’s a service bulletin for it, and plenty of info here on this forum.

Actually, having taught AC and certified techs in the distant past, I'm wondering about the quality of my dealers techs. AC isn't that difficult, the controls are usually the problem. I got rid of all my equipment long ago, should have kept the manifold gauges.
