Default Conv top squealing & not working

Press he button , top unlatches and then a squeaking ( almost struggling ) sound for the rear flap to open ... doesn’t go past that.
I checked the pump in the trunk and it shows about half inch below the Min line... is it fillable and if so what fluid ?

i also saw this loose cable in back .. not sure if it needs to be fastened down at the loop somewhere ??

any ideas ?

so I waited about 10 minutes and looks like the fluid pressure subsided... top tonneau cover is now closed position ( not latching... but at least closed )
I tightened the pump allen and confirmed the rear separator cover is up.

now what should I do next ? Do I hold the top OPEN or top CLOSED button to finish reseting ?The cover is currently stowed in side ( top down ) - so I'm assuming I press the close button ( top up ) ?

Send a PM to Forum member WhiteXKR. Steve, TheJagWrangler, is the inventor of the soft top remote control kit and probably can help you. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...roller-154075/

Thanks. WhiteXKR is one heck of a great guy. I PM'd him and he replied back with some tips and breakdown od what I should do.

I picked up some extra fluid, topped off the pump and reset the top back down. Held the close button - but got nothing

For the time being - I figured at least if I could put the top back up, then it would be ok to use the car. I was able to put the top back up manually and latched the top down -- took a whole lot of turning of the 4mm Allen wrench to get the top to lock closed though !!

NOW the problem is at least the top is closed BUT the small quarter windows aer still down ........ How the heck can they come back up ?

Im open to any ideas at this point...

PLEASE

Try resetting the windows. As I recall, you need to lower the driver's side and keep holding the switch down for 2 seconds after it's down. Then pull that switch up to raise and close that window and keep holding the switch up for 2 seconds after it's closed. Repeat with the passenger side. Hopefully, your rear windows will close.

Looking at the first picture, it looks like the hydraulic fluid is very low. This would account for the squeal. You can refill it through the gold colored plug, I don't know where to get the fluid other than a dealer. The loose cable is an emergency latch release for the tonneau cover.

thanks ! I found the fluid ( thanks WhiteXKR ) it’s a pentosin CHF 11S and got it at AdvanceAuto. I filled it to the mid line with the fluid and tried to close the convertible top ( it’s in reset position ).

Held button for 3+ minutes but nothing happened. I heard the pump, and what sounded like squirting - wasn’t sure if it was just the fluid going through the hoses and filling up OR if it was just spraying out of a blown hose. One thing I didn’t like was the fluid level went back to below the line after this 3minute exercise - was it just primI got it is here a leak somewhere - because I don’t see any green hydraulic fluid anywhere ( unless it is spraying somewhere in the liner insulation - YIKES ! )

Maybe the hose that controls the torneau cover has a leak ?? Or is it an electrical ??

for now I put the top back up , BUT still getting :

1- hood latch not closed message
2 - rear quarter windows don’t close

id be happy at this point if the top is atleast closed and the rear quarter windows too ... atleast then I could park it outdoors if need be when going out.

I don’t know but either way if it has to go to the dealer I can only imagine how many ch $$& this’ll run..

Default UPDATE - Convertible top working

Update - Thanks everyone for their input - and special thanks to WhiteXKR for all is help , advice and tips - great guy !

I ended up having to go to a local Jag indie shop and they found the Cylinder Hood Lift Cylinder had blown... literally blown out the back... So needed to replace that one + also reseal the opposite side. Parts took a few days to come in and total with labor etc came out to $2500 ... ouch. Hopefully this is the last time it happens. According to the tech - it was the first time they saw one of the 07+ models have this problem. Go figure ...

My only little problem is now when I get out of the car and set the alarm - it goes off * will start a new thread for this issue ...
