Switched, unswitched 12V power and ground are conveniently available in the "boot" or "trunk" of our XKs and XKRs immediately adjacent to the left tail light.
Typically a white or black plastic plug secured adjacent to a sensor bracket, it is unused and awaits your creative application (back-up camera, etc).
Brown wire: unswitched 12V protected by F10 (10A). Fuse in the RSJB
White w/Red wire: switched 12V protected by F23 (10A). Fuse in the FSJB
Black: Ground, secured to the body nearby
Fuse values and numbers are as noted for 2010/11 models but should be typical for all XK/Rs. CA052 Socket Accessory Rear

Added to XK/XKR - 'How To' / DIY Repair & Maintenance sticky under section 4. ELECTRICAL with acknowledgement.
Does anyone know the name or spec of this plug and/or where one can get it's opposite? Would be very useful, rather than having to cut it to access the leads.
Bill 400 thanks for bringing this accessory-power socket to our attention. And alfheim, the socket/plug is two-piece and is ready for inserting female contact terminals in the removable half of the plug. Just press on the plug's side with needle-nose pliers and slip it out of the half of the plug that is connected to the car body. If you determine what female contact terminals it is designed for, please let us know. The brand name, AMP, is embossed on the end of this male half of the plug. I looked at AMP terminals on te.com, but there are just too many to know which one is correct. It would be easier to simply replace the plug with one of your choosing (since it's not being used anyway).

A ha. Thanks. Hadn't spotted that. Looks like it could almost take standard spade (or the female equivalent) crimp connectors. Might try that.
I do see the point of just cutting, that makes sense, but just felt wrong initially.
Will have a think about it, and report back if I find somehting that fits.
