Adapter to fit reservoir for XK coolant pressure tester
Considering there are so many adapter fittings for coolant pressure testers for cooling systems... does anyone happen to know what the exact adapter fitting that would work for a 2010 Jaguar's XK reservoir to do a proper pressure testing? This adapter should work on the reservoir and not the radiator. Most kits do not have the adaptor that will fit properly and won't work effectively. .Where can I find one? Does any kit have the proper one? Thanks all. PS...Sorry for the improper spelling of adapter and tester....was unable to correct.

Yeah, you’re right. I bought a Stant kit some number of years ago, and it didn’t have the right size, so I bought a Stant adapter that fit our cars. Must not have bought it on Amazon, as it’s not in my order history. I’ll check in the garage tomorrow.

Thanks for your input. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also remember reading on the forum how the actual original Jaguar reservoir cap was transformed into an adapter for the pressure tester! I’d prefer not to go that route.

I bought the Maddox MH-1B, it has various fittings and adapters. Worked on my 2008 xk

Thank you wymivm....I believe your 2008 XK uses the same part number coolant reservoir as my 2010. However, I don't see the pump included in the kit. Does this kit require a compressor? How does it work?

I'll be looking for one with a pump. Thanks again for your help. At least I know your kit has the adapter. Perhaps Harbor Freight has another model with a pump and the adapter.
Ok, so my Stant pressure tester is model 12270,
and the adapter is 12026. Kit comes in a nice box. The extra adapter fits in the box with the kit. Here’s the pump, model 12270. And the adapter, bought separately, model 12026.

Can I ask what year and model Jag did you use this for?
Where did you buy the Stant 12270 and the Stant Adapter 12026? JB Tools? Amazon? Auto parts store? Which one? Have you used it on your Jag effectively? Thanks
I didn’t find it in my Amazon history, but in a search of this forum I found a post from when I bought it back in 2016, on jet.com, which no longer exists, and was a part of Walmart.
I used this on my 2007 XK, but AFIK all years use the same/equivalent reservoir.
After trying to track down the Stant 12270 coolant pressure tester my path led me to Advance Auto Parts. The part is sold under Carquest Premium which describes it as MotoRad MT-300 with the Stant part# 12270. Now I just need to find out where to get the Adapter Stant 12026. I’ m hoping that after securing both the kit and adapter it will work as described. To be continued…..
Update:For any members on this forum interested in a coolant pressure tester for their XK...... With a fair amount of research, I found that Stant no longer sells the pressure tester under it's name and now it is being sold under MotorRad MT-300. Since Advance Auto Parts had both the pressure tester 12270 as well as the adapter 12026 I went with their online purchase. There isn't much info on this product, so I hope it will serve it's purpose for a Jaguar owner like myself that is pretty much concerned about the integrity of the cooling system. I'll update this thread once I receive the items.
RECENT UPDATE: Thanks to kyo7xk I ended up purchasing the latest version of the Stant 12270 pressure tester which updated to the Motorad MT-300 and also got the Stant adapter 12026 through Advance Auto Parts. The pressure tester seems to be a very good quality. To review...My 2010 XK has 16,000 miles. I had all my cooling lines 8-9 plastic hoses/lines replaced about 9 months ago through Jaguar. It took about 14 days and about 300 miles of driving to for the coolant level to stabilize at a standard level. I still continued to watch it for about a month where the level stayed the same. No more coolant smell since the lines where changed. A few weeks ago after driving a total of 1100 miles, I noticed the level dropped after measuring about 2 1/2 -3 ounces. There has been NO COOLANT SMELL. I tested the pressure with the Motorad MT-300 and it held 15 lbs for about 20 minutes where it would drop to 14-14 1/2 lbs and stayed there for some time. I didn't leave it overnight. Apparently there is no significant (or any) leak. I was told that depending upon the pressure tester and the car itself, it is possibly to lose a lb of pressure within 10-20 minutes after pressurizing system. I can't understand where the 2-3 ounces went after 1100 miles since evaporation shouldn't occur in a pressurized system. Is 2-3 ounces really that significant after 1100 miles? Do our cars requires some topping up over time? I DO NOT SMELL COOLANT... After pressurizing the system, the coolant level stayed the same, so nothing was pushed out. Is it possible that there was still some air trapped in the system even after all this time? (9 months). Everything in my cooling system has been changed including the pump and just about every single line. Am I being over the top OCD? I'll be keeping a eye on the coolant level, but I do so little driving each year (about 1,000 miles).

The drive could have just burped the system. When you filled it, was the front end raised a bit? If not, it could be nothing more than a burp of air that worked it's way through the system

I spoke o my independent mechanic today, and he too believes there is a possibility that with our intricate cooling systems, air can get caught and stay in certain areas especially near the heater core for some time before they are purged out. I'll be keeping an eye on the level and crossing my fingers. Thanks Sean for the feedback.
The MotoRod/Stant adapter setup is a quality kit. I was impressed with it. As a Jaguar owner, I'd like to have quality tools. Glad I found it. It certainly will come in handy.
