Default Alcon Rotor Removal

Hi Folks
I finally got around to changing the front rotors and pads on my Alcon brake equipped 2009 Portfolio. The car has 65000 miles and is wonderful but I think the rotors are original. They are frozen on the hubs. So far I have been soaking them in solvent to loosen the rotors and tapping with a mallet. No luck. I tried to rent a puller but could not find one large enough to grip the 400 mm/16 inch rotors.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, after watching the threads here I bought the rotors from Rock Auto for about $100 each. Thanks for all the earlier advice.
Best
Neil

Have you checked for two little star washers on each rotor, one each on two of the five lugs?
AFAIK applied in the factory on all Jags from around 2003 onwards, purely to keep the rotors on the hubs as the chassis travels down the production line.
Not the first time a young player has been caught out by this and struggled to remove the rotors!

Good point but these don't have them.

I reckon you're going to have to bang on them for a bit with a good hammer or small sledge, also try turning the steering rack so the caliper side is turned out. Likely someone didn't do a proper cleaning prior to fitment or didn't use anti-sieze. Regardless they will come off after some good shocks and you'll need to wire brush the hub face after.

I've been banging but concerned about wheel bearings. I wish I could find an appropriate puller..

Problem solved. All I needed was a larger hammer. The second rotor popped off after just a couple taps.

Yep, a bigger hammer will solve just about anything.

Just a hammer did nothing for me with the large alcons.

i had success after clamping the disk to the caliper braket with c clamps. This put a load on the disk and 2 taps later it popped.

I haven't got Alcons but I had brake discs bound pretty solid to the hubs on my 5.0 and I had to get very violent with a mallet to get them dislodged.

Does the Rockauto Alcon aftermarket rotors have the same crescent moon slots as the original Alcon rotors? If so can you please share the part numbers, the images on the Rockauto website looks wrong.
