I wouldn't buy it. It's a screen mirroring device that's controlled by your smartphone. Unless you can control everything hands-free through voice commands on your phone, you'll be looking at your phone and be distracted while driving.

That's a recipe for disaster, and every personal injury lawyer's dream case.

But it's your car, your money, and your choice. Just my

I'm against it. Usually these are NOT near as well integrated as the factory unit for the functions of Climate Control/Systems/etc. What you can do, if your car is not already fitted with it, is add the audio interface kit, and get a Bovee 1000 device (specific version for the XK) so that you can just play music or the audio of navigation out the car stereo via bluetooth. It's not carplay, but turning on seat heaters, clearing errors on TPMS and other warnings, setting the clock, using the integrated phone capabilities, directing climate control and more will still work all normal like.

As far as I know you will still have the full function of the original screen as well, but it adds a Apple car play wireless or android auto via cable connected, so it is not that you loose your original screen and functions. But it probable works like what Stuart say, you still have to use your phone to navigate on these new screens, and I am happy with that, I am just looking for maps, as the current Jaguar maps sucks, and are completely useless in South Africa. Not sure where JLR got maps from. so if I can have google or Here maps on the screen, then I am happy.

But Stuart, if you have any other ideas we can use, please share. I checked Jagdroid out but he does not make anything for the XKR model

Cheers
Pepe

It's a more phone-centric version of this, I'd think...
