As i'm sure others are aware, coolant leaks on this car seem to just migrate from 1 spot to the next.
First it was some bad clamping causing hoses to tear near the S/C, then a worn o-ring on the ECT sensor, and now the latest.... worn o-ring inside the plastic housing of this hose:
A few options with this one:
- RTV and silicone wrap (this was terrible and didn't work)
- Replace the whole hose PN C2P2142 for about $80 (on back order from the motherland and didn't want to wait, also to lazy to get to the bottom clamp for the whole hose)
- Replace just the failed O-ring inside the plastic (tried this too, but could not get the right size)
- Chop of the plastic part and replace with a 1.25" to 1" silicone reducer + 1" barbed coupler + some clamps
Last option is what you're seeing here. Eliminates the o-ring/plastic failure mode altogether.
Currently taking bets on what will leak next!!
Valley hoses have already been replace preventatively. My money is on the 2 connectors by the axillary pump that go into the heater circuit. They are plastic and probably have O-rings inside them as well.
Jaguar is Ford, and I just had to replace a seal much like your top picture on my old F-150. It took about a minute and a half to do with a factory O-ring and a screwdriver to pry the fitting unlocked. No leaks so far.

Yea it would have been real easy that way, but I'm not sure where to find that exact O-ring size.

You don't think the barbed fitting is good enough? The bottom part worries me a bit but I think it should hold.
