Default 4.2l SC delete back box and last resonator thoughts 💭

Hi guys 09 xkr , was going to do a backbox delete, ordered some nice tips .. then had the jag lifted and noticed the previous owner removed the last resonator already. I felt it was louder than stock when I bought it but still want a deeper and louder set up. my question Is anyone have the last resonator and back box deleted ? Ive seen the 2 YouTube vids of the BB delete but both have the 2 resonators. thoughts on sound with the set up im asking about.

Assume no one has the one resonator and then no back box set up to chime in. I have to decide what to do as I can return the dual tips to Amazon or risk it being loud and proceed with the back box delete with the one resonator on and the other deleted. Tried to source a resonator but hard to find.

may keep the set up I have now but add bigger tips for the look.

I can't help at all, I have a 5.0. If I want a raucous loud car, I'll drive around my old P/S Mustang.

Fair call. I’m just going for my old 08 set up which was a quicksilver exhaust but after I fiddled with it I ended up having the stock resonators put in and then just the back part of the quicksilver which was then brought to my attention I just straight piped it.. so was gonna just do that but didn’t realize the previous owner deleted one of the resonators already. So now I’m worried it will be too loud and sound like crap.

Sorry to bump this up... but do you know if you need an Oem resonator or can I buy a aftermarket one and then drop the back box and achieve the same thing. I cant source a OEM resonator.

You can look at fitting a secondhand XK midpipe which has only 1 resonator / silencer instead of the XKR midpipe which has 2 resonators / silencers?
Some people would remove the midpipe and replace it with an Xpipe and keep the original rear muffler and have it tune to suit. The Xpipe with original rear muffler will be a very similar setup to the XKRS, not identical but close enough.

Agree. My 5.0 XKR, is plenty loud. Press the dynamic button, and step on it and it roars. I’m surprised it meets EPA noise limits. But, then I ride Harley’s for a long time, and always changed the exhaust to something a bit louder and rumblier than stick, but not obnoxiously load.

I was really looking forward to having both resonators and no back box as the tips I bought are larger and look great. also I just want it to sound like my old 08. Vid I'll upload. It is a quicksilver but with 2 resonators back in.

Well i'm booked for October 8th to lose the back box and try a straight pipe with only one resonator vs the two that I was hoping. We shall see if its too much or sounds bad. The Muffler shop has resonators but they are single cans so would need to buy two but that maybe the next step . only issue there is if it will be different than the stock resonator and create a weird sound. all things I have no idea about. Are all resonators the same in what they do ? I imagine not
