Default Another sad day...

Two weeks ago, driving on the infamous Belt Parkway in Brooklyn, got caught between two boy racers who were dicing it out. This parkway is (in)famous for the weekend warriors in their riced-out Hondas. Anyway, car got hit in the left rear, spun out, got control back (thanks Jaguar). Got it towed to an intermediary yard 'til insurance got to it. So it got totaled (no surprise...) but got a somewhat decent settlement ($13,5-ish). Shame - was in showroom condition for an '07.
Feeling XK withdrawl symptoms, but few days ago located a nice '10 XK Portfolio
at a fair price with half the miles of the '07, a half-hour away from home.

So looks like I'm back in the game again...

Photo enclosed - if you can bear to look.......

Tracee. Sorry to hear about your accident, but of course the important thing is you were not hurt. Things can always be replaced, and I'm sure you'll find a satisfactory replacement for your car. Use the forum for any issues you should look for and you should be fine. Good luck.

Wow, there seems to be a rash of X150 accidents this month as if we didn't have enough problems. Thank goodness you weren't hurt in what could have been a very bad accident. Good luck with the new purchase. Update on my accident. While I was writing this reply, I got a call from my body shop that my car was nearly ready and that I can pick it up in a day or two. He ended up replacing the front quarter, the door, painted the whole driver's side of the car as well as the hood, front bumper, splitter, etc. and says the car looks like new. I can't wait to confirm that. Today he is working on a "Differential Not Available" warning that I started getting the week before my accident. I can't wait to get my cat back.

Hoping your differential is found...(!). Seriously, once the issue is resolved you'll be on the road again. Might be an errant connector or just that the computer(s) have to learn that it's there.

Tracee you are a tough trooper and deserve the upgrade.
The silver lining is that you can effectively double your money in this climate. It will get worse.
We are the beneficiaries too, you will be showing us tricks with the other model.

Sorry to hear of the mishap... Glad you are well.

But I am getting tired of this theme... with you guys writing off your '07 - '10, I fear there won't be a '12 -'15 left for me.

"Who's insurance is paying?

Got a check from my insurance today - minus my deductible. Liberty says that after they're finished duke-ing it out with the other guys insurance company that I should get my deductible back. It was good I opted for "collission" on my policy: the insurance company now does the negotiating not me...

Yeah - I did like the first series, with the 4.2 engine...300 horse was plenty for me (think "Driving Miss Daisy"...). Sure I'll adapt to the 5 litre engine.

Wow, sorry to hear about the accident, glad you were unhurt too. I was reading the post and realized we are neighbors,I live in Glen Cove. I just went through an accident scenario on the NSP. I hate driving the 'Belt' too. Mine was front end damage to my baby, my fault, but very repairable with no metal damage except the radiator support member and headlight, along with the bumper cover. Glad you found one quickly. Good luck!

Are you any closer to getting that 2010 you were looking at? If not, any other car you have been considering?

The '10 I mentioned now sits in my drive, waiting for the plates to arrive from the wrecker (they held the plates until they received the title papers).
A bit of a departure from my wrecked '07: previous owner had "blacked-out" a lot of the chromed bits, but I'm sure I'll adapt.
Haven't had long enough for the XK bug to get "old"...

Think I may have seen your XK(R?) last year at a shop in Glen Head. A Black Beauty, no doubt.
