Default Battery drain values

Tried to start car - centre console display said "take wallet to Jag dealer"..

Battery at 10 volts..(bat is 7 years old) - the car had been stood for a week.

Charged batt - disconnected bat and placed an ammeter in series with pos lead.

Current readings after turning ignition off was around 6 amps - reducing to 20 milliamps after 5-6 minutes.

Probably time for a new battery.

The reading of 10v is all you need to know, even a charger or maintainer can't save it. Sears or most auto store will install for free and save you a bunch over the dealership unless you're under warranty. It shouldn't take more than @10-15 mins to do as you probably know if you tested out at the posts

Get an AGM battery. Read the battery threads for additional information.

I'm just going to order a batt from Jag and install it myself. I was looking buying one of those Absorbed Glass Mat batts though discussed on the forum.

Not sure which way to go.

Good news is i'm no longer getting "check tire pressure" cycling through all four tires now after the "reboot".

I guess Bill Gates wrote some of the software...

I read those Ralph - thanks - still thinking - may try getting a quote from a local outfit and compare it to Jag.

Walmart has the correct battery sourced from Johnson Controls, and
it has the correct venting. Just make sure that the venting is still in
the attached plastic baggie. Costco does not carry the correct size.

It is the same as the original battery. Varta is owned by JC now.

7 years was a pretty good run. You can expect the same from
the replacement. No need for AGM.

Parasitic drain of 20mA is a great low value...............a full charged battery should easily last 1-2 months at that low rate................
Yep you need new batt, wet plate from WalMart are fine.

Cheers, Adrian
