Battery , not Jag but
So yesterday I moved my Lexus out to take the Jag down for a round of golf. Everything was good with the 2010 Lexus as usual and I just moved the car out to the front driveway. Took the jag and by the way the phone didn't dock again. Car sees my phone but won't dock. This is something I am talking with the dealer and is intermittent. Back to the Lexus so when I returned home and parked the Jag on the lift I started the Lexus and my phone wouldn't link. I then went to back up the car and the rear camera didn't work . I also went to get into the trunk using the trunk release button in the car and it wouldn't work. So I then thought the problem might be the battery which was the original 2010 with 43K miles on it. I put the 10 amp charger on it and needle popped to around 8 amp charge rate. So did a load test and battery read bad. Put a new battery in and everything is good again. So 6 years was pushing it. Now I need to get the Jag phone problem fixed.
Do you keep the Jag on a battery maintainer with the doors locked while garaged? If not, I recommend the CTEK MUS4.3 available from Amazon to keep it fully charged, which will probably extend its life and eliminate all of the electrical gremlins. I know that you're aware of this, just not sure if you use one.

?? expected what to last longer. The battery that went was in my 2010 Lexus
Wait a minute...you mean it is possible to have in a Lexus the same sort of "problems" you can have in a Jaguar if you don't use a battery maintainer? Who knew? Those engineers at Lexus had better pull up their socks...entirely unacceptable, typical Lexus problems, etc.,etc., etc.

I would put that into the normal wear and tear category, I guess that is useful to mention but a battery failing after 6 years is just to be expected. After 5 you are on borrowed time!
My factory installed jetski battery lasted 7 and a half years, now that was a miracle. Considering most get one or two years out of theirs!

I have only bought my XK last month. I changed my battery this week after i discoverd that my battery had the date on the negative post as 10/08
I am assuming that is the 10th week of 2008 if i have it the right way round, so it was still on its original battery

Yeah, batteries are taxed to a much higher degree in modern cars. That and I think the battery companies are using inferior components. I don't have proof, just seems to follow suit with everything nowadays.
