Default Blackstone Labs oil analysis up date

Greetings ......
I just received an update from Blackstone Labs regarding the oil analysis on my 07 XK. The corrected TBN analysis ( life left in oil with 7300k) showed plenty of additive life left in the oil. Oil should be able to go 10k.
Anyway more food for thought. Be safe.

Sorry I got too lazy to look up past posts! I've done my previous 6 changes at dealer always with some type of discount coupon, last year paid $149. Now they want $239. Not on warranty and have a good local european shop near my home recomended to me by a couple of guys from my cars and coffee. Just wanted to be sure.

My new-to-me '08 is getting an oil change next week, courtesy of me... I can buy the oil and filter for $ 52 at Auto Zone, and they'll deliver it to my house for free!

Crazy how a filter ELEMENT for these things cost triple what a complete filter AND canister costs for 'normal' cars.

RockAuto has an AC Delco oil filter for my 5.0L XKR for $10 (CAD). That's what I've been running....

I've used WIX oil filters on all my cars for years. I don't even know what brand Jaguar OEM is?

Yeah, there are FRAM filters all over that will fit for $12. I won't buy any of them either.

Nothing says you want to maintain the integrity of the car like using an aftermarket oil filter.

Along those lines, nothing says you want to protect your engine more than by changing your oil and filter well in advance of the recommended intervals, virtually eliminating any potential oil filter related problem.

Then there is the nepotism regarding who makes what: "the smart thing to do would be to play it safe and install a Jag filter. Except the Jag and Fram are one of the same".

From a Jaguar parts manager: "the last 6 were Wixx brand, made in Israel. Maan have appeared on my Jags, as has Ryco, Fram etc, and never really had issues of any sort."

I think the bottom line here is changing your oil and filter much more often than recommended (like I do with my Audi and all of our cars) is the key to longevity.

I'm not being too much of a snarky guy here, but Moses, do you also use Genuine Jaguar waxes and cleaners or (gasp!) aftermarket stuff?
"All Hail Jaguar" does NOT mean it is better, or even capable. Fram has about the shittiest filters made, and those are the ones that Jag recommends, so sorry, I won't use those ones.

No for waxes or cleaners, but technically neither of those are products the mandatory for the life of the car. Oil filter is. I just want to see the engine or look underneath and see everything "Jaguar" where it can be. Not Pep Boys this, NAPA that.
