If the oil leaks were small and over a long period of time, and the fix is thousands of dollars, then do a Roadkill temporary fix and pressure spray
the lower outsides of the valve covers. Clean them up and see how long it takes to get the smell back. Maybe a detailer can do that. The second Roadkill style fix is find a can of gasket sealer for the oil sump. I am sure someone has that on the market!

Along the same lines, could a re-torque of the VC studs, correct the leaks?

So are we suggesting a casual mechanic should be able to do a full valve cover job on the 5.0 SC engine in a weekend?

I recently paid to get the rear water jacket replaced, along with some brittle cooling hoses, oil cooler gasket, etc.

Looking into purchasing the valve cover assemblies and attempting to do this myself in the next few months when it's warmer.

I'll likely replace the injectors (Bosch 62120) and plugs (current recommended replacement?), and breather diaphragms (C2D60163 - 2pcs) if those are recommended "while you're at it" jobs

Anything else I should have on hand for this job? Special tools, part numbers, etc?

Can I reuse the gaskets recently replaced (intake, supercharger, etc) or are those 1 time use only and need to buy again?

Supercharger gasket can be reused (carefully) but intake manifold gaskets are crush type and they’re quite inexpensive so best to replace with new. New valve covers might include the diaphragms?
