Default Buying 2007 XK - Sirius Radio

Hi,

I'm new to Jags and this forum. Interested in buying a 2007 XK.

Sirius radio is a must have -

How can I tell if a car has Sirius? Does the shark fin on the rear trunk mean that Sirius is always installed?

I think you should look at an 08 or later. I'm not sure if the 07s had a Sirius radio.

My 2007XK with premium sound came with Sirius. However you cannot upgrade to their premier program list as the radio is not compatable. From my research its simply because it wont accept channel numbers above 199. Thats my experience and dont know of a fix.

Welcome krypto69. Also check to see if the car you are looking at has the "ACM" installed -- the module that allows you to connect an accessory like an iPod. I don't think that was standard back then.

These Jags seem to be built for great ride and performance, but the electronics leave a lot to be desired. Good luck with your search.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the welcome and the advise.

Think I will look for a 2009.

Do all 2009 XK's come with Sirius?

If it has the tail fin of whatever it is called, will have Sirius.

Or DAB, in other parts of the world (digital terrestrial radio rather than digital satellite radio)

Just so I'm clear...if it has the shark fin - it has Sirius?

Yeah - that 'fin' antenna just forward of the rear spoiler is only fitted on cars with digital radio (Sirius in the US, DAB in Europe, dunno what elsewhere)

My 2007 XKR Conv does have Sirius. The shark fin is a visual give-away, and if you get to look at the car you will see the Sirius option under the Audio menu on the touch-screen display.

I might be wrong about this but I think if you go to the Sirius website, there's a function on the install page where you can enter the car's VIN and it will tell you if the factory radio is Sirius capable or not. This would be a solution if you weren't able to inspect the car yourself.

If it has a SDARS antenna then it is Sirrius comaptible. I'd not call it a fin antenna though. I've 2007 and have Sirrius radio. The antenna is in front of the rear spoiler.

Picture attached of that antenna much like the one on my 2007. I think the car pictured is a 2010 though.

Just turn the car on. Go to the Nav screen and select AUDIO then select Sattelite Radio ...........if Satelite Radio is there to select.

By the way, they don't advertise it but if you dig around the Sirrius website, you are eligible for a one month free trial as a purchaser of a used car!

Excuse me, two month free trial. I just activated it. Not sure how else to counter the crappy radio reception this 07 has. After playing with the Sirius...I will definitely subscribe after the trial. By the way my 07 xkr is optioned out EXCEPT for some reason they didn't get premium sound (@#$&!) but it came with Sirius.
