I'd be more concerned about a defective driver's side sun visor. If need be, you could get creative and do a cheap, DIY MacGyver Mickey Mouse fix with some used bubble gum.

Except, of course, if the passenger is your wife!

The visor is an easy fix and they also show up on eBay and other places from time to time. I would be more concerned about being satisfied with the bottom line and any other important concerns regarding the reliability of the vehicle.

"Document fees". Total ripoff. All the prep fees and profit and such are already figured into a vehicle's asking price. Yes, some laws have Doc Fee Laws... but just the Top Limit. NOT a Minimum. You could pay zero. However, dealers DO have to prepare documents and such, so therefore it is reasonable to pay them for their time..... all ten minutes of it.
Watch this guy and his videos, some VERY GOOD information in them regarding nearly every aspect of vehicle purchasing;

To get the other side of the car selling game, search YT for Steve Richards

This guy trains car dealerships how best to make the absolute most money from satisfy their customers when selling cars to them. His 'closing' tutorials are masterclasses. Worth watching on a 'know your enemy' basis.

Is the OP purchasing this car from a Florida Dealer? I did not read every post, so I might have missed it. If so....is it a big dealer? I'm in S.E. Florida and if nearby, I'd be more than happy to give it a look. Let me know. There are only 2 Jag dealers here, and I have gone to both numerous times.

Ok....Sorry, That's a little far.... Was hoping it was Jaguar of Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale Jaguar. I would have loved to give it a once over......and I'm quite particular too... Good luck and keep us posted!

Do what you can to get the price you like, but in looking at the market there aren't many S variants in that price range and with a CPO warranty. Sure they are shuffling money around by lowering the price and hitting you with a high dealer fee, that puts you at a buy price ~$40,000.

Seriously, in the end a couple thousand difference or a $700 visor is meaningless in your total cost of ownership. You (really any normal car owner) are going to suck up tens of thousands in depreciation making all this upfront stuff peanuts. I am a "don't sweat the small stuff" kinda guy. I like your style, keep pushing until movement stalls and then you know the limit!

It's not being sold with CPO warranty. The OP asked the Jaguar dealer to provide him with a detailed Pre Purchase Inspection using the Jaguar CPO checklist.

The XKR-S under consideration is a 2013 model, which is beyond the 6-year age limit for CPO eligibility.

The paperwork, contract, cost breakouts, inspection and invoices for the trans and engine mounts will be delivered today. Once i get it and sign, I will overnight it back and send the wire over for payment. If everything checks out, I should have the vehicle delivered in a few weeks! One thing I will say is that this dealership has had less than great customer service/ expectation management. If this car was at another dealer, I would have shopped around more. Only thing keeping me on the hook is that there is so little inventory for this car, model, color, single owner, and subjectively low mileage. Overall, I think the price is pretty good, looking at 39K car sales price (6K less than advertised). I guess what i will find out over time is the actual quality/MX future costs of this car. I am very excited and I hope it works out!

Congratulations. I suggest against wiring money - it is too easy for things to go wrong. Overnight express certified check made into dealership's name is a safer way - you have proof of sending it, signature of them receiving it. After that it isn't your problem.

Also, prior to shipping the car to you, ask them to do video walk-around. This way if anything goes wrong during shipping you have video proof.

Once you get your new car - assume that all maintenance is past due. Change all fluid and filters. Change engine oil and use recommended fluid. Especially make sure to change transmission fluid and filter, as nobody does this on low miles car and this is how transmissions die.

Last but not least - take a hard look at tires. If they are original tires, it is time to replace them. Rubber goes hard with time, so you will have reduced traction. I like Michelin Pilot 4S summer tires, they have fantastic grip and reasonable longevity for a performance tire.

sort of not funny, asking 2 k more than your initial dealership pricing, a few miles less, the 'member''s only action seems to be finding the car a new owner.
Is the 'member' one of the sales people you dealt with?

Is this the same car as the one you are buying? Same serial number? That seller has under his interests..."flipping cars"....It certainly would be of interest to you to know more about his ownership..
