Default A/C duck bill here's what it looks like

Right found this thread, this is what the duck bill looks like and location, could this hole be accessed from inside without take the car console apart, if a hole was drilled at the side of blower box it might be easier to get at with some kind of tool, any options

I've tried that. Went in through the passenger side. It's not a good option.

After you grind back the blower case, there is insulation (black).. then a rubber hose. Inside of the hose is where the water gets backed up.

Nearly impossisble to fit a tool in there and snake it in. I custom made a flexible dremel grinder but (2' long).

I couldnt even get it close to the pilot hole I drilled.

I epoxied up that small hole and it stays dry inside.

On my NA XK.. (this trick won't work if you have big fingers or a supercharged XKR) I removed the plastic engine cover and I am able to reach in with my middle finger and touch the opening of the bill. It's enough to keep it free of clogs. I actually have sprayed teflon spray on my finger tip and I was able to get a little inside of the bill. Drains great now. I keep my eyes peeled and do that trick once in a while to avoid any problems.

Thanks,
Joe

The hose may be part of the insulation.. not really sure. But there is definitely a core inside of the black molded plastic blower body.

I was able to remove the intake tubing on the passenger side of the car and reach my hand down there and play around with the duck bill. It wasnt easy (XKR) and I was somewhat scraped up, but it is possible to do on an XKR.

Sorry to mislead you, I meant I went through the engine bay, like those who own the N/A XK, and was able to fit my arm between the firewall and engine block once the intake tubes were removed.

I think we will take care of this drain problem when we do the sound system upgrade and carpet swap. With the carpets out it should be easier to get to.

My plan is to put a tube through the duckbill that it is permanently open, like a 5-10mm little pipe.

Are you a Gynocologist by any chance, sounds like a medical procedure

We don't seem to hear too much of this problem over here in the UK.
Must be the heat or lack of it!
