Default Center cap change

Bought some new wheel center caps for the car. Thought that it was an easy change out but can't seem to get the old ones off. Any suggestions on how to remove the old center caps. Thanks.

How did you try to remove them? They can either be pushed out from the inside when the wheels are off of the car or you can VERY carefully pry them off with a very thing metal point or razor blade.

The safest way is to remove the wheels and push the cap out from the inside. It is a good idea to remove the wheels periodically anyway so that they do not get frozen to the hub.

Yep just take the wheels off and pop the old caps out . I use a wood handle to do it. By the way I take the wheels off maybe every 3 months just to clean and wax the insides.

Default removing center cap without removing wheels.

I switched mine off using a small suction cup tool. Works like a charm. They sell them most times for pulling small dents in places like autozone or advance auto. Actually any suction cup type of thing will work.

Thanks guys, had a suction cup at home, would not pull them off but pulled them out enough that I could get a razor utility knife beneath the cap. Then they just can be popped out. Put the point of the razor by the A in jaguAr on the cap, this is an area between the inner tabs on the caps. Replaced the black ones with blue, looks COOL with the liquid silver.

Very nice. They really pop with the chrome wheels. Where did you purchase them?

My center caps were faded (black), scratched and nasty and so I didn't mind destroying the old ones. I just took a hammer and nail, pounded the nail in about half and inch and just pulled the old ones off and popped the new ones in.

I put red ones on my black XK and blue ones on my black XJ. The local dealership is now putting red center caps on almost all the new cars it sells. I don't know if that's something done at other dealerships.
