Central locking fault

Central locking fault
Hi, my 2007 xk has developed an issue with the central locking. Primarily the drivers door and boot seem to have an intermittent issue. It is the first time I have had the fault but it is very annoying as I have to unscrew the rear number plate to get access to the key lock for the boot. Once open it seems ok for a time and then stops working again. Likewise during the boot failure, I cn't lock the car from the drivers side, but it will lock if I press the button on the passenger door. If I use the key fob, I can hear the actuators working but nothing happens, that also applies to the boot release on the dash. I have changed the batteries in the fob. Can anyone help please.
Many thanks.
Pete

This sounds like one of the gremlin chases caused by the car's battery voltage. Has it been checked to see if it is holding a proper charge? Resting voltage should be >12.5V.
I've had these gremlins in the past and found that by keeping it on a battery tender when not in use made them all dissappear. There are many threads you can search here that detail the issues.

Welcome to the forum Pete,
I would also go for battery as the first and most likely suspect.
However, the previous model XK8 developed issues with both door latch microswitches and luggage compartment harness damage as the vehicles aged. At 12 years old, it's possible your XK is beginning to show a similar pattern.
When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

+1 on testing the battery as recommended above.
Another "try it it first because it's cheap" option is to replace the battery in your fob.
Beyond that, you should have the codes read. A central locking fault should throw codes to steer you in the right direction. A generic code reader will not suffice. You need a Jag specific reader or an hour at the shop.
