Default Clearing Control Module Faults and/or Rebooting - RESOLVED

2009 Jag XKR Convertible
-
Original Problem: Adaptive headlight system (really annoying) flashing fault/warning instrument icon. A two hour visit to Scottsdale Jaguar only provided a factory Jag response to remedy the problem of R&R the headlamp units for $5 or $6 thousand. The car WAS a flood car, so it's certainly possible the the headlamp control modules were faulted, and the modules need to be re-flashed.
-
Remedial Steps: Go to one of the three independent Jag specialists in Phoenix/Scottsdale who had the Jaguar enhanced/enabled ODB readers, and have him perform an entire diagnostic, and reset the fault codes.
Going backwards-- if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
-
Results after fault code reset: While deleting the "Communications Malfunction" fault code for each side, the L & R Swiveling headlamp motor codes remained, and the tech cleared all the rest of the codes-- however several other permanent codes remained. This is when the problem went from minor to really bad:
The start button would no longer start the car!
-
The progressive step, was to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. This remedied the starting problem (it started and ran), but subsequently, it affected the convertible top operation-- the actuator no longer works (lowering the top, and the two rear quarter windows remain open). This gremlin is beyond the capability of the well-respected independent operator with the ODB reader, and I am not favorably disposed to going back to the Scottsdale Jaguar dealership... giving them carte blanche to come up with a frivolous answer-- like replace the control module. Any suggestions as to the next step? Coult the steering column lock have something to do with the soft-top actuation?
-
This requires an electronics wizard who understands Jaguar's idiosyncrasies, and the resetting the control modules.

You are in the wrong forum section.
This XK forum is for the 1997 to 2006 models.

I've moved your question from X100 to X150 forum and deleted a duplicate of it from then end of another thread in X100 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

If the only remaining issue is the top operation and rear quarter windows, if the top is closed try doing the window reset procedure (maybe a couple times).

If you've disconnected the battery, you have to re-train the windows for automatic up, otherwise the convertible roof won't function.
