Convertible bay cleaning
I would like to clean around the convertible top and in the top storage area. Can I open the top half way and let the button go, clean stuff, and then press the button again to continue to open it up all the way? My manual said not to release the button until the top was completely open or closed?
Yes, this is not an issue. Manual is just giving you the procedure to completely open/close the top. The service manual has you open it partially for maintenance work. If the car is off eventually the lid will float back down.
If you have Steve's Remote Op Top, one press does the whole job with no reason to hold the button. BUT, if you have that wonderful addition, you can still stop the top half-way by again pressing the button once.
I recommend doing this cleaning in short intervals. In other words do not keep the top mid-cycle for more than 2 minutes at a time or so.
If you keep it mid-cycle for longer, as the hydraulic pressure bleeds down the top will move and then the electronics and the hydraulics may get out of sync requiring you to go through the manual reset procedure. The short interval approach will avoid this issue.

Thanks again. I cleaned the convt. top bay today without any issues! Mostly good, but a few dirty areas that are now clean! Also cleaned and coated the top! Thanks for all the tips!
