Default Convertible Top Reset

Hello, I recently had my top replaced.Having difficulties getting top to latc.It closes to 2-3 inches from header
and wont latch. I've scoured the other posts and done the window reset many times,
Will removing the F8 fuse do the same as 10 minute battery disconnection ?
Is there a proximity or hall sensor that has failed? I haven't done the roof reset described in manual.
Any help would be appreciated, before I'm forced to the dealer$$.

Once it stops and reaches 2-3 inches from the latch, continue to keep your finger on the button for up to a minute. Does it eventually start moving again and latch ?

That confirms that the problem is NOT related to the window reset not being accepted (which is the most common cause for this issue). Yes removing F8 for a minute is worth a try and is equivalent to disconnecting the battery on the convertible top control module. It is best done with the top in the down (which is the reset) position.

You may have a failure in the system. If you want to start troubleshooting, the service manual and electrical diagrams available for free download on JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource
are a good place to start.

The manuals are available to download in the "sticky" FAQ's at the top of the threads:

I'm dealing with the same issue. None of the relatively quick fixes posted elsewhere worked for me. (I'm going to wait till I'm back in LA and have my dealer shop there fix it. They're pricey, but awesome, and really know these cars.) A few thoughts in the meantime:
- you will get good at manually raising and lowering the top. It's not the end of the world, but....
- REMEMBER: the rear windows will NOT go up if you get the "Hood Not Latched" warning. Since the car thinks the top is not properly latched it will not raise those little windows. So you could keep doing the whole thing manually, but you run the risk of being caught in the rain with those little windows down. (Also, on hot days, it's surprising how much air comes in from those little windows. Even with the top up, and main windows up, and AC blasting, you'll still be hot.)

Every now and then my top behaves perfectly. Last time it did, I decided to leave it in the fully closed position and wait until my return to LA. I will post on a few of these threads on the result.

wont release. The pull tab next to pump seems to be missing,I cant find it.Thoughts ? Thanks

It's in there. Fish around for it and really look up in there. When you find it, steady firm pull straight back toward the rear of the car.

Smile UPDATE

Went to the dealer with top misadventure, they hooked up the SDD and it showed a fault in the front
latch sensor.Low and behold the top installer failed to plug the sensor back in! I'm relieved to say the least.
So I happily paid the diagnostic fee.Very happy ending.
