Hey Guys, in the year and a half I've owned my XKR I haven't had a single issue and have done only typical maintenance. I came home the other night after a short drive, maybe 6 miles, and it was about 70 degrees F, and after the car seat for an hour I noticed a small puddle of coolant.
I got a decent pic this morning of the area where the leak may be coming from-this seems to be coming from above the bellhousing. Any suggestions on what I should consider looking for first?
I don't yet have a manual, so can't really tell what lines are below the SC and all the spaghetti hoses on top of the engine. Any assistance would be helpful.
Classic leak of the front to back valley hose for the throttle body. Dozens of threads about this. Sometimes it’s something similar but it’s about time for your 5.0 litre to have ALL of the cooling hoses and pipes and related parts to be replaced.
I don’t think you mentioned mileage, but you’ll want to inspect the manifolds for carbon build up, replace spark plugs, check injectors, replace PCVs, check valve covers for leaks, replace rear heater crossover, replace front crossover, replace throttle body hoses, replace super charger gaskets, replace oil cooler tube and inspect water pump, inspect super charger and snout pulley for slack/play
ACTUALLY, I had this problem also; leaked coolant on the torque converter cover. I had EVERYTHING done. Turns out the only leak was on the Oil Cooler. I didn't know it was an oil/water one. Anyway, that was leaking onto the trans. Regardless, that's a supercharger off thing anyway, so do EVERYTHING.

if anyone has a write-up on SC removal I would really appreciate it. Any parts lists would be helpful, too. I have seen a lot of suggestions, just getting a little lost in the size of this job.

Update: shop quoted me $3,120 for this work. Just replacing a hose. I'm moving the car to another shop later today. They originally quoted me $1500 over the phone for the same work.

"A" hose. There are several that should need replacing since they'd be right there handy. No sense to pay $2000 for all that labor and not pay the extra $200 for the rest of them.

Problem's there's a lot of labour involved because of where the hose's located. Make certain whoever does the job, knows what they're doing and as we all keep saying, make certain you replace EVERYTHING which's not already recently been replaced to avoid paying for the same labor over and over again.

I did that also. Replaced all lines, water pump, thermostat, supercharger isolator, oil cooler, MAP sensor, had the SC inspected and serviced, two new belts, intake valves inspected (still okay) and replaced the four injectors I didn't have replaced when one side took a crap.
Now everything is great, and it cost me $6k.
Wow, that's a lot. I've taken it to another shop nearby. My family has experience with the owner who has extensive German and exotic car experience (this intro would have been helpful yesterday) and I'll update after they've taken a look.
Side story; I sent a text to the previous owner a couple of days ago asking about the water pump and if he could recall when the water pump was done when he owned the car. When we were negotiating he did mention that he had had the water pump done but didn't include it as one of the receipts he provided me. He was an honest guy so I thought reaching out he probably would remember. His wife texted me back a day later to let me know that she didn't recall when the water pump was done but that I could call the dealership where they had the car serviced, and that her husband died six weeks ago. Sad.
