Default Coolant leak. Valley hose/pipe issue effecting our cars much?

Hey guys! The reason I'm asking, for the first time ever I smelled some coolant at the stoplight and decided to check the level, I was low about 10 oz.
I tried to visually find a source of the leak but nowhere to be found. Started googling and came up with this Valley hose issue that's affecting 4.2 and I believe 5.0 cars but I haven't seen too many posts about it in x150 XKR section.
How prevalent is this issue with our cars?
Since I can't find the source of a leak and it's obviously have leaked out somewhere this is the only thing I'm suspecting.
My car 2008 XKR 93k miles
Expansion tank was replaced 2 years ago

I suspect it's because there are far fewer X150's in production than S-Type's and X350's, but the same engine and same set up (on the 4.2 anyway). And prolly more than half of ours are garage queens:-) The most common place found is coming off the transmission tunnel passenger side if memory serves. Adding a dye pack and pressure check should lead you to it.

As mentioned above, if you suspect the valley hoses, they would leak coolant down the transmission and you would be able to see it from under the car. Not sure if it would pool up in the valley itself but that should be visible from the top.

EDIT:
I have a mystery coolant leak that I believed I solved. Will post later tonight since I have pics and it doesn't have anything to do with the valley hoses.

Probably jinxing myself but when mine goes I’ll take the opportunity to do a port, polish and rebuild.

I was thinking along the same lines, but more on the 10% pulley. Not sure about the port , haven't seen a single proof that it adds any power on gen 5 m112

So theres a small leak from this hose. Which I clamped and put some RTV on. Looks like its still leaking a bit though. Guess I'll have to replace that hose at some point.

As I had the bumper off, I noticed a nice gooey drip from the front of the engine. Can't see anything from the top or the water pump.

Is this from the oil cooler lines? What are we looking at here in terms of repair?

So driven the car for last few days, so far no loss of coolant at all. I slightly overfilled it and it's still at exact spot. Scratching my head here

Sounds like your issue has been resolved!

Either way I think I will start my own thread to document my issue.

I don't believe we have the same leak lol.

Don't think leaks just resolve themselves . It has leaked out and I smelled it for sure . Just that it hasn't leaked out in a few days just makes it harder to find. If your still experiencing a leak and you found the hoses just replace the hoses as they will most likely leak more later due to age..
