Default DA-Dongle J2534, Jaguar ssd. What's safe?

I wanted the AUX in programmed into the head unit and use it without the ACM kit as Cambo nicely described. So called the Indy close by and asked them to do it. They have been doing Jaguars for 30 years but will not program my head unit to get the AUX in!? He was what I thought playing stupid and didn't understand what I wanted even though I explained it 3 times.
Called another Indy(2h drive) and asked but he didn't dare to do it cause of chances to brick my car!?

I am thinking of buying a "full" diagnostic tool but not sure if I dare as 2 Indy's won't do it?
This one is JLR approved and wonder if anybody has any experience with it?
DA-Dongle J2534 VCI

I think that SSD is the Jaguar OEM tool but very expensive and the chinese copy's I don't dare to buy of what I've read about them here.

Is it so easy to brick our cars when using it? I have Peugeot diagnostics tool(chinese copy)and and got the AUX in enabled in my 207cc a couple of years ago with no problems.

I have the DA Dongle (Jaguar approved) and it works perfectly well. Better than my SDD, actually (old version). I know of other members in here who also use DA Dongles with no detriment.
The official Mongoose cables are very expensive, and the ripoff Mangoose cables have been known to brick cars.

It is a simple and quick check off in SDD. It's not that it is easy to brick, knock-off products could fail, glitch or be missing key components while in the middle of flashing the car which may or may not cause problems. Not worth the risk for the savings, get the real deal. I do find it odd a shop would be afraid of doing it, if so they must also be afraid of using the equipment all together.

You also need a hefty power supply to do serious reflashing, as opposed to tweaking values.

I'd use a clone but only if I had a plan for what to do if it bricked a module, had I need to do any reflashing/tweaking.

Any Jaguar Land Rover dealer could do this for you.

As you have a pre-2010MY car, it's an automated routine in SDD, at the top of the Service Functions Recommendations list.

If all you want is the AUX input enabled, then I would just take it to a dealer and get them to do it.

As Cee Jay says, the DA Dongle is Jaguar approved. You won't need to deal with a Mongoose cable either. SDD (not SSD) is Symptom Driven Diagnostics and is the Jaguar software required for the Dongle to work. You want software that can be used without a Topix Subscription. There are plenty of guys on the forum willing to share theirs. You want to ensure the software isn't a Chinese copy also.

With regard to power supply, you're vehicle requires 25 amp power supply. This is not a battery charger. It's a stand alone power supply that feeds 13.8 VDC to the battery while SDD is in use. Sidebar, you don't need a power supply to just read codes, and for the function you want to perform, you probably don't need it, but having one is best practice.

You'll want an older laptop that runs Windows 7 32 bit. Stay away from any VMWare versions of the software. It's best to use a dedicated laptop with a fresh install of Windows.

I used the Mangoose dongle because I'm dumb, but it worked.

When you go to enable the ACM in SDD it does a voltage check, must be 12.5 or greater. Mine was at 12.2. So, I pulled my truck up behind and used jumper cables. Must have looked funny, with the truck / cables and an extension cord for my laptop, OBD2 dongle, wires everywhere, just to enable an AUX input.
