Default Dash boards

Are all 2007 to 2015 xk's and xkr's dash boards the same size and can be interchanged? Can a burlwood dashboard from a 2010 be used in a all black 2013 xk? Or do I have to use the same year the car was made on each dash? I did some research on this site but did not find anything on dashboard size.

Thanks

Think they’re all the same, other than left-hand or right-hand drive. Console trim is different between 4.2 and 5.0 because of the shifter.

Everything is the same for all models with the exception of the shifter surrounds on the earlier models since "stick" and "puck" styles. Also the left-hand and right-hand drive models differ of course.

The aluminium section below the Instrument Pack has three slim horizontal cut outs in the metal for the In-Car Aspirator - the veneer equivalent has a plastic insert which clips into a large rectangular hole:

How do you get the passenger side dash off? I read that you have to remove the glove box to get past the air bag and the two straps holding on the dash board. And since we are talking about the dash where can I find a bur walnut dash? Can you get it from a parts house or wrecked jag place? Any help would be great.

Thanks

clipped in at the four corners. Use a plastic pry tool.

Are you sure? I have a 2013 and there is a air bag behind it. When you pry it up there are two straps that hold the dash plate from hitting you in the face. I don't know how to remove the wood dash plate without setting of the air bag.

Place a "Parts Wanted" ad in the Forum Marketplace. Also check Ebay for "2007-up Jaguar XK wood dash trim."

You can also wrap your existing trim with vinyl that replicates genuine burl wood or other veneer. It's the best bang for the buck.

Did it a week ago and confirm what Sean said. When you take of a wooden veneer you will not even see an airbag. It is inside a dashboard, behind a wall to which veneer is attached. No risk of getting airbag into a face changing a veneer.

ps. Parts are interchangeable but beware LHD and RHD on this and driver veneer (behind a steering wheel). The rest is plug and play no matter if it's RHD/LHD

This is my RHD and the earlier XK 4.2 model BUT the passenger trim / airbag is the same on the later 5.0. This is what's behind the veneer:

I looked on Jaguar TOPIx for the Veneer Kit fitting instructions but it's been removed.

I've found the trim removal and refitting instructions and put them in a separate thread so I can add it to the FAQ's. Here's the link to the thread:

Thanks very much for the removal instructions. It is funny they want you to throw away the old cover. I guess this was written before carbon fiber. Is there somewhere that I can buy the oem burl walnut dash covers? Stuart S does the stick on vinyl look cheesy after installation? But I am probably jumping ahead. I have not even got my car yet. I might just like the color in there. I will probably be driving it so much that I don't have time to change it out. Thanks for everyone's help.

Thanks

Quality vinyl wrap properly applied looks very realistic and is hard to distinguish from the real deal. Ask the Forum member who did it whose name is in the photo in my Post #9, above. Good luck in your quest to find the X150 of your dreams.
