Default Dealer recommendations

Coming from the Porsche world all involved know there are two dealers who have the best parts pricing for enthusiasts countrywide. Any similar knowledge in the Jaguar world? I’m putting new tires on and am told by the Discount Tire guy 8 years is about due for TPI replacement. He stocks them but says ‘ I don’t care if they are three times the price get OE units. My local dealer’s price is discouragingly close to exactly that…

There is a sticky in this forum covering this, I believe. HIGHLY recommended to use the newest Siemens VDO 53004 TPMS sensors.

Thanks very much for the response! How would I know if it’s the latest version and where would I buy it?

I think the 53004 is the latest version, it replaced a couple of previous versions.
An internet search for the part is your best bet for lowest price. Sometimes it will come up with Amazon, or RockAuto, or someplace else, prices fluctuate with stock availability.

My limited research shows the 53004 fits up to 2013 XKR, local dealer verifies last six of vin are needed to assure proper fitment as changes were made. ‘14 uses 315 mh…

Nearly every non-UK car on the planet uses 315Mhz. The UK uses 433Mhz for some reason.
I have also heard that the 2014-15 models use something else, but danged if I know what's different. If fitment, would that be caused by a different wheel style with different internal contours? That'd probably be wheel-specific and not year-specific.
I dunno.

@ceejay , this is why: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/asse...k-fat-2017.pdf
I suppose the assumption that car frequencies will not conflict with maritime frequencies as cars do not propel through the water yet.
We do find aircraft on the ground at times so a conflict may occur??

Which reminds me, time to renew that radio licence…

Holy crap that's a lot to read. Since it's UK FAT wouldn't that only apply to UK cars?

If the dealer is around the same price; I would rather go there than a tire shop. At least you get to look at new JLR products and better selection of snacks. Not 2 year old Sports Illustrated's.

I would ask either vendor to let you see underneath the car while it's on a lift. The tech will poke around some with you and you get a mini free inspection.
