Default Do your rear nuts stick out

OK so I was just cleaning up a bit and noticed when I cleaned my rear wheels (Nevis 20") that the lug nuts stuck out. So I didn't notice it when I cleaned the fronts and went back to check. Sure enough the rear lug nuts do not go in as far as the fronts so they are above the face of the wheel. The front ones are flush so I guessing that the off set has something to do with the depth of the counter-bore . Is this the same for the other wheel styles and sizes. Just a general question.

Sounds like you have a very impressive set of nuts. Mine are not different from back to front in my 2012 with 19" rims. Deez nuts are the same.

Jagtoes:

On my 2009 Jaguar XKR, the wheels (both Front & Rear) were fitted with OEM Jaguar lug nuts. Both the front and rear wheel lug nuts were recessed into the wheel. Thus all wheels had the same depth.

I have seen wheels, where the front and rear lugs have stuck out past the wheel lug, drilled holes. This is quite prevalent when using Spline Lug Nuts commonly found on "tuner" type cars.

I would suggest that you pull a lug nut from the front wheel that appears recessed. There is a possibility the rear lug nuts are actually longer in size than the front lug nuts.

As you already know, size does matter, especially when it comes to length.

Other than this, I would have no other explanation of why there would be a difference between the front and rear.

Although you do not have Spline Lug Nuts on the Jaguar, I have attached a few images that compare a short vs. long lug nut.

Click the image to enlarge.

They are all the same size and are OEM cap type lug nuts. Next week I'll be pulling the rears for their annual clean and polish and I'll measure the depth of the counter bore. Both rears stick out the same amount and both fronts are flush with the wheel. Being staggered the rears are wider and the off set is different from the fronts.

I also have 20" Nevis wheels. The Front nuts do indeed sit below the wheel surface while the rears are above. Aftermarket nuts, but about the same size as stock.

My 2009 XKR was all 20" wheels all around (Jag OEM Selena Wheels).

If they are going to stick out might as well make them into a Mad-Max weapon and get some spike lug nuts that REALLY stick out.

You forgot the disclaimer that it only happens when the wife allows you out with them so you can enjoy the car.
