Default Does anyone know, what is this sensor?

Can anyone tell me what this sensor is and where it should go please?

It comes off the engine wiring harness at the front and beneath the engine cover.

The car is a 2008 XKR 4.2 SC

Many thanks!!

Phil

Looks like a stowage clip for a diagnostic pigtail.

It should probably just clip on something stable to keep it out of harm's way.

As I don't have a 4.2, that's the best I can do for ya.

It appears to be a relay. I'd search the part number.

I did a search on the part number on the clip, which is hard to see, but it is similar to a part number for a ford relay.

Stretch the cable as far as it will go comfortably in all directions, in one of those places you will find where it attaches.
A clue will be how the cable has bent.

It literally goes where it's resting in the pics. The tab is held on with flex tape at each end. Here's a pic of mine.

Thank you all - I spent a bit of time looking around for a clue as to where it should reside but I couldn't figure it out!!

I will tape it safely where it is now. Everything is functioning so I guess we are good. Thank you all!

Probably the connector the secondary air injector valve, pump, or sensor. I believe North American vehicles do not have a SAI so it does not go to anything.

It looks like from the picture of Ranch's post that it attaches to the water outlet pipe. Is it a heat sensor?

I ended up just sliding the mount off the connector and zip-tying it to the rest of the harness.

Out of site out of mind!

If the wires are Red/White and Green/White, it's the vacuum solenoid for the secondary air infection system, or just the connector (PI302) for that solenoid.

Sec. air (SAIR) is air put into the exhaust to reduce emissions and heat the cat. conv. faster.

This is what happens when you have a hyperactive spellchecker...
