Default ECU Tune and Pulley Upgrade Satisfaction for 5L SC

There has been a lot of discussion concerning ECU (ECM) remapping. There are a number of vendors offering to install off-the-shelf tunes from $700 to over $2,000. Members considering this mod may find it useful to view a satisfaction survey from members who've taken this leap of faith. Also, members who've had their car tuned will be able to compare and refine their tunes. If you've had your XKR, XKR-S, XKR-S GT, XF SC, XFR, F-Type 8S or F-Type R tuned please post. Feel free to add any other information you feel will be useful.

1. Your year and model (XKR, XKR-S, XKR-S GT, XF SC, XF-R, F-Type 8S, F-Type R)
2. Vendor that has done your tune
3. Type of tune (remap only or remap with pulley upgrade)
4. Dyno charts with numbers
5. A brief explanation of your satisfaction level and why
6. Experience with vendor
7. Was the TCU (TCM) also remapped
8. Any other engine or power enhancement mods done or will like to do
9. Track times and top speed 0-60, 1/4 mile before and after tune

A summary of 5L SC tunes and shortcomings will be available when more tunes are added...I'm hoping this will serve as a useful guide for members seeking a tune and for members with a tune to compare their results, problems and over all satisfaction. Stop by often to review our progress. Summary updates will be made every Saturday. Any suggestions are most welcome.

OK heres mine

1. Your year and model (XKR or XKR-S) 2013 XKR
2. Vendor that has done your tune RSC
3. Type of tune (remap only or remap with pulley upgrade) 3LBS Pulley and remap
4. Dyno charts with numbers Did not dyno, butt dyno says there is an increase but how much I'm thinking 50HP max
5. A brief explanation of your satisfaction level and why Car feel stronger and has effortless power
6. Experience with vendor Good
7. Was the TCU (TCM) also remapped Yes, shift speeds were altered
8. Any other engine or power enhancement mods done on or will like to do Cat Back Exhaust
9. Track times and top speed 0-60, 1/4 mile before and after tune Only car it after the tune and with the tranny doign the shifting my best of three runs was 12.33 at 117MPH

I'm not sure how others cars feel but mine feels super strong low and mid range but falls off at higher RPMS and gears(typical due to leverage). It still feels like something is holding it back maybe a limiter or retarded timing(need smaller plug gaps), but I dont think its the TCU as its strongest in the range 2500-4000 you think the TCU would restrict power most.

And mine...

1. Your year and model (XKR or XKR-S)

2012 XKR-S Convertible

2. Vendor that has done your tune

Jerry at Eurocharged Houston

3. Type of tune (remap only or remap with pulley upgrade)

Pulley and Tune

4. Dyno charts with numbers

Stock 481 rwhp / Tuned 539.6 rwhp

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-105538/page2/

5. A brief explanation of your satisfaction level and why

Extremely satisfied. I've had tunes on the last 4 cars I have had, and this one feels excellent. Very noticeable power gains and car is extremely responsive. The car pulls very hard throughout the RPM range, and I have not experienced any falling off at higher RPMS. Perfect idle and no weird tendencies. A+.

6. Experience with vendor

Very good. Met them in person here in Houston and they took great care of me and my car during the tuning process. All my questions were answered and I felt very comfortable. Received copies of my dyno and they welcomed me to document everything and take pictures. A+

7. Was the TCU (TCM) also remapped

Yes, the TCU is not limiting my gains on the dyno.

8. Any other engine or power enhancement mods done on or will like to do

No, I am very satisfied at this time.

9. Track times and top speed 0-60, 1/4 mile before and after tune

Undocumented at this time.

I'm waiting to have the Eurocharged tune done hopefully tomorrow or Saturday, Jerry is just waiting to get me the loaner part. I'll Post the results as soon as they are complete, and I plan on being back out on the road course and strip within the month so I can report on 1/4 times and trap speeds.

Yes sir Jerry is trying to get the Jag IDS to them as the shop he uses in Davie, FL does not have one. I hope to hear from him shortly so I can get this done tomorrow. I'll have dyno results from my previous tune and the Eurocharged tune.

Awesome...Looking forward to the results. I hope your tune turns out like mine...The acceleration is just breath taking. I punched it up through 4th yesterday and you can really feel it in the pit of your stomach, but it doesn't last long because its just a matter of seconds before you are in triple digits and throwing out the anchor.

Great thread, thanks for posting. For all adding their results, please have your tuner include the AFR trace on your pre/post dyno graphs. Also, please identify the dyno used and whether your results are SAE corrected.

Pre/post on the same dyno is by far the most useful evaluation, but I'm always interested in the type of loading used during the measurement and how well that mimics street load (and AFR).

Thanks!

Rich

If my numbers are where yours are at I'll be happy, ~620BHP is where I want to be. Hope Jerry is able to get the tool I've been waiting for a few weeks now

I noticed they also have an upgraded intercooler pump which I was thinking about getting as its so hot here during the summer, shoot 85 now LOL.

Rich thank you for the information, I was about to ask what else I needed to retrieve from the session.

The pulls will be back to back as I already have a 3LBS pulley. So it will be a baseline pull, tune then another pull. I'll be sure to note the dyno model and correction being used. I'll be going to Ragetek in Davie florida per Jerrys recommendation.

I asked about the pump last year myself. He seemed to say it wasn't really necessary unless there was a problem with my stock pump, then he would recommend it be replaced with the upgraded one.

He could have easily convinced me to do it if he just wanted to make a sale, but I took his advice for now and will possibly upgrade in the future.

I assume you will be getting a dyno based on your current tune (not stock) and the Eurocharged tune.

When we have 5 or more tunes posted I'll edit the thread's starting post to maintain a quick summary of the results. As more tunes are added the summary will be updated. This should serve as a useful guide to tracking the various tunes available and their shortcomings.

Correct I don't have the factory tune so we will just have to compare the RSC vs eurocharged tune. I think down low they will be close but at higher RPMs I do not believe the boost limiters were removed on my tune. So we should see higher results in the 4k+ range.

Cant wait to see results I was also going to go ahead with either eurocharged or the rsc tune. I have actually already also have a pair of milltek 200 cell cats that have been waiting for my car to be delivered. But do to the weather and some issues on the car factory I haven't had the chance to pull the trigger and get the tune pulley and high flow cats done.

I love the RSC tune because its easy and I get to keep the device, so if the dealer flashes the ECU to stock I can reflash it myself. What I'm not happy with are the trap speeds and the feeling that the car stops to pull at 4k+. What odd is if I go and flash the ECU right now its a monster and pulls to 6k like a freight train, but once it "learns" it slows down.

So I'll see if they let me do one pull as the car is now, reflash with RSC do another pull, and then reflash with eurocharged with another final pull
