Resetting
If the electrical supply is disconnected from the parking brake control module, the actuator will loose its position memory. On battery re-connection and ignition on, 'APPLY FOOT AND PARK BRAKE' will be displayed in the instrument cluster message center indicating the parking brake requires resetting. To reset the parking brake, press and hold the foot brake. While holding the foot brake in position, move the parking brake switch to the 'Apply' position.

2004 XJR Park Brake Fault Reset Procedures Requested – 21 SEP 2025

- I recently replaced both Rear Lower Control Arms on my 2004 Jaguar XJR.

- I recently tried to reset my 2004 XJR Park Brake Fault warning light.

- I disconnected the negative lead on my vehicle battery for 30 minutes.

- Afterwards restarted the vehicle and.. pumped the brakes continuously at the same time tried to have the parking brake engage. It didn’t work. The warning light still is lite.

- The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB ) does not engage, in other words my EPB is not functioning.

- Can someone please instruct me or provide a method to remove the Parking Brake Fault warning light and restore the electronic parking brake feature.

Thank you,

Melvin

You may need to read the fault code(s) for it to see what is wrong and then do a fix.

There were no fault codes seen using my ICarsoft Multisystem scanner i930.
Only the message seen, "Fault in communications with vehicle ECU".

If it's flagging a warning it sounds like that tool doesn't report it.
