Default Engine Air Filter

Does anyone know where the engine air filter is located on a 2007 convertible XK? I was told on the front passenger side, the wheel and shield needs to be removed to get access… thanks....

The bloke who designed the position of this air filter should be made to replace it 10 times in a day. Surely an engine air filter should be in a place where it can be got at in less than 3 hours ! All of this dismantling ( and re-assembly, of course), needs labour time at around £90 an hour in the UK, probably more. Barmy !!

This alone makes me wonder what else they didn't design with an owner in mind.

Speaking of the air filter travesty....does anyone know if the 2010 air filter is the same size as the 2007-2009? Just curious as K & N has a 2010 filter now and was just wondering... I used to have a spare housing around but can't seem to find it so if anyone knows the dimensions of the 2007-2009 Filter I would much appreciate it. BTW there have been 2 or three guys on this list over the years that have done some real interesting things with the intakes and filters. FWIW I would also add that although the filter change appears to be daunting it really isn't that bad and a motivated guy could do it in a few minutes...assuming he has a power driver for the fasteners :-)

Default No Need to Remove Air Cleaner Box to Change Filter

If you remove the wheel, then you do not have to remove all of the underbody panels or remove the air box. Just remove the 8 Torx 30 bolts from he wheel well liner and pull it back out of the way. Unscrew the 2 Torx 25 screws at the top and bottom of the filter box access door and then pull hard on the door to remove the filter cartridge. Purolator A35817 air filters are available from Advance AUto for about $19 each.

Be advised that the supercharged engine has an air filter box on each side.

Awesome feedback. If I buy the 08 XK I'm looking at I plan on inspecting every filter etc I can get too and change.

This car is for my wife and since it has 35K miles I'll want all fresh fluids/filters before I turn her loose.

Thanks so much.

Is that true? The Supercharged models have 2 airfilters on each side?

Does anyone have pics of the air filter change process?

Thank you

And the supervisor that either signed off on it or insisted on it to begin with should be made to do it in 0.3 hours per car, unless SC, then 0.4 hours, 24x7, or suffer 100 lashes for each failure to meet the time. The time for lashing to be deducted from his allowed time for the next vehicle.

They might as well have added the air filter(s) to the sealed for life list.

Wonder what the QuickLubes of the world think of this one.

Jag-Nut, that's the way I checked mine. Made it a lot easier and just pulled the liner back enough to get the filter out. Luckly they had replaced mine.

Default air filter replacement instruction sheet

I am still trying to figure out the best way to attach PDF and JPEG files.

If this doesn't work, then send me an email to blackriverexp@att.net and I'll forward you a PDF instruction sheet with diagrams that I have made up.
