I see this title occur on articles but they don't seem to refer to the principal display as I see it. This is what shows on my 2007 XK4.2 Convertible display, no other lights or message. And no I'm too lazy to stick my cheap diagnostic tool on it yet. It's raining.
Any immediate thoughts of what to suspect. Engine still seems to start and run OK.
There's several good OBD's for the XK, but the cheapest/best tradeoff I found was the Autel AP200 with the JLR software download. $60-70 on amazon, works with your phone.
Lots of useful tools, a real bargain compared to others.

You MUST own one to keep a 10-15+ year old car.
Hi
Thanks for the reply. As I feared once I plugged in my ultra reliable but cheap code reader I l learnt all but nothing..
It returned two codes 7E8 and 7E9.
Some on-line references to knock sensors or maybe dodgy fuel. Coincidently I had just filled up with cheap[ supermarket fuel which is now 10% grass and weeds,,
So cleared the codes and all appears well.
But I have ordered the Autel AP200 as you suggested, Could help with my 2000 XJ8 sport and XF 3,0S
Thanks
Chris
Prior to attempting any diagnosis or repair work, use a voltmeter to check the available voltage across the battery terminals. The test must be performed whilst the ignition switch is in the OFF position for at least thirty minutes or longer.
If the voltmeter displays less than 12.6 volts, charge the battery for three to five hours at 2 to 5 amps. Retest the battery as done previously. If the displayed voltage is still less than 12.6 volts, the battery is suspect and must be replaced.
Many of the electrical faults, and random DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) are caused by a failing or weak battery.
Just to wrap this up.
My cheap OBD tool showed the 7E8 and 7E9 response. Allowed me to clear the 'codes' and the warning message and all has been trouble free for weeks.
Enough done..
And if it should stop raining I'll finally get the top open.
Thanks
Chris

And you might want to regularly use a first rank RON 95 fuel….
