Those are indications of ECU failure in a 97. You can switch a couple of the coils from bad cylinders to good, and if the faults don't move it's the ECU.
I have used ASI in Tennessee as have many others.

99% chance you will need this and that will fix it. I had A.S.I. do the rebuild and it took them two times and were a pain to work with but it is working now.

I know it's been awhile, but I've been super crazy busy with a new job, health issues, you know the drill. In any case, pulled the ECU, sent it to ASI, fast turn around, re-installed and started it up, got traction and stability faults, and engine coolant low. I've had a problem with the engine coolant low warning since perhaps year 3 of ownership, so I watch the temp gauge like a hawk. Traction and stability faults I figured were the ole ABS issue. I let it run for awhile, shut it down, plugged in the engine analyzer, restarted, and traction and stability faults went away. Engine coolant light remained, but ZERO ENGINE FAULTS! I'm on the right track!!!

Yes I agree, a slightly weak battery will set off these codes. Traction control is the most common. I try to run my Jag at least once a week and take it for a bit of a spin which seems to keep everything at bay. If the condition happens often I would change the battery. Old days we could change the acid in the battery to give it new life. Newer batteries which are sealed anyway seem to short out a between the plates at the bottom of the battery. I guess a bit of corrosion builds up. We are in a disposable world. Good luck ,Rich

Thanks, Rich. It's a brand new battery, so I'm afraid I'm in the re-soldier the ABS world now. We did clean all of the sensors, checked the resistance, checked the fuses, etc. It's intermittent, which gives me another clue, but more often than not I get those warnings. So it looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and make the attempt to pull the module, crack the case (or use the drill technique....carefully) and try the re-soldier. However, the great news is I can drive the car carefully so I can get it inspected and the emissions done so I can re-register it. That's a start. Future fun will include reconditioning the carpets and headliner, then I'm looking at the plasti-dip stuff for paint, since my paint is unsalvageable, sadly.

I wasn't getting any engine codes, but was getting a red light and Transmission Fault indicator, and it runs poorly. I can check for anything specific if if you have any ideas. I haven't done the resoldiering yet, so still getting the stability and traction faults, but the replacement computer worked for the engine faults.

Try to resolve the ABS issues as there may be a connection with the trans problem (they do talk to each other). Can you get the car somewhere that can read the Jaguar codes? It will help you with the ABS diagnosis and may give you some more information as to why the trans is complaining.
Do the messages appear during the startup sequence or only when driving?
Good luck.
